I'm just curious if there is anyone else that actually likes every single change they've made between DA:O and DA2?  I'm sitting here, trying to think of something that I preferred in the first game and I simply can't.
  • I like the talking protagonist (and the femHawke VO is great)
  • I like the faster more actiony combat
  • I think the facial expressions on people look better
  • I like the dialog wheel summary instead of the complete sentence being written out
  • The ability trees and level up system is a lot more streamlined and looks better
  • The "R" button!  (auto-target and attack nearest guy and auto loot nearest corpse)
  • I've liked every character (minus Carver and Wesley...good thing they die really early!)
  • The normal difficulty of the demo seemed spot on for me.
  • I love the fast animations, and big swords and stuff
I'm sitting here and reading a lot of complaints and can't find myself agreeing with any of them.  Is anyone else like me?

The only thing im worried about is the possibility of the wheel making roleplaying a bit more shallow and not as diverse as in DA:O and I do like the fact that you could be a different race in DA:O but its not a big deal since I know that the story wouldnt make sense with an elf or dwarf.

The people you're talking about wanted more Dragon Age, not more Mass Effect 2.

Actually thinking about it, only being able to be human is the only thing I don't like, but in the context of this particular story it doesn't bother me at all as you said.

You LIKE that there's no origins, no races, no tactical camera, no crossbows, cliff hangar ending, you can't change armor and different weapon types for party members, warriors can't duel wield or use archery, there's less specializations etc?

I don't see how roleplaying is any more shallow, of hell its just a list of three options on a whell, DA:O had 4 at most on a scroll list. So yes a vast difference in your roleplaying.

I like most but not all of them seems like it will be a solid game, or so I hope.

I do like the new artstyle, the new cutscenes, the new combat and the new abilities scheme, each of those things is a huge improvement over DA:O. Having a voiced protagonist is also great. The only thing I'm not 100% sold on yet is the dialogue wheel, but I'll proably get used to it.

I think it's unrealistic to literally like every single change; just as it's unrealistic to hate it all.

The paraphrasing system is unpredictable, the cutscenes using the Framed Narrative are really excellent, but the 'story within a story' could allow handwaves of epic proportions, so I can't enjoy the story expecting "Oh right, that didn't really happen" all the time.

And the animations, oh God. You can make the combat more responsive without crossing into over-the top Wuxia territory. The combat felt really silly. And when I saw Isabela leaping around like Catwoman I just turned off my mind.

The lack of Isometric View is a huge disadvantage, I'll get used to it eventually, but it's still a superior feature what is missing.

Though the Inventory was disabled, I'm not going to like the lack of companion armors. The "we wanted to make them artistically distinguishable" is a load of hogwash. Even Diablo 2 managed to do that without removing generic armors. Each class had a different look designed for different armor types, something similar could have been implemented for the party members instead of running in the same stuff all the time (except Aveline, but I don't think that she will receive another visual upgrade through the game). So it's a really lazy excuse.

So far after playing the demo im loving everything. I only played a human in origins as the other races were boring to me and not having to worry about inventory management as much is great.

Yeah I guess.  I suppose since Mass Effect 2 is one of my top 5 games of all time probably (one of the few games in recent memory that I've actually played through to completion multiple times), then that's why these DA2 changes suit me perfectly.

After I played the demo, I ejaculated uncontrollably and without intention on my screen. Afterwards I went to the computer shop and found they had the DA2-Ejacu-Cleaners....at a great price so yes I think I like all the changes.

I for one honestly believe that change is good. It's like eating chicken for a week that by the seventh day you would like to kill the cook serving you chicken. Change is always good and what I have seen in the demo, the game is going to be a hit.

Don't bother with those who complain about the changes. They just need some time to realize that if they wish then they may play Dragon Age Origins for the rest of their lives (or until Bioware cuts support for the game at least).

I for one will enjoy this demo until the date of release of the actual game. Cheers.

Now why do you have to troll and then fanboys come b!tching why TW2 is brought up?

This thread is about CHANGES, The Witcher didn't have those things in the first place (but had a lot more stuff DAO didn't)

My sig is there because I support TW2, just people people support Tali, DA2, the crap from 02.01.2011 etc.

Don't pick fights, troll

Seriously, that's just low.

Liking another game doesn't make your opinion irrelevant.

Stop acting like you are married to BioWare and must defend its honour with everything you got Don Quixote style.

Most of them. There are way too many things that could be listed in comparison, but I think the only thing that I would have liked to have been retained from Origins was the race selection. Not even the "origins" themselves, just being able to choose a dwarf or an elf.

But I'll take a voiced PC over that any time.

I think the positive by far outweighs the negatives for me. My main grips is that I'm not sold on the new art style but that's me showing my age. I grow up long before anime became popular (in Europe/US). DA:O was way to bland/inconsistent/boring but I liked it's tolkien ripp-off better then this anime. That said game overall looks better and it's not bad enough to really change anything.

My 2nd reserve would be the dialogue wheel. I like the idea of it but it might as other have pointed out make the game less involving/too cinematic. But this being Bioware I think the story/involvement will be fine.

Not every change, I find the lack of tactical view just,,,,,,sad.

Although the demo was fun, not all the changes seemed good to me.

I don't like every change, but I am happy with the overall package. To enjoy every single change would require an uncritical mind. I am a very discerning person.

The targeting sucks and the text is too small but other than that I like most of them.

I was really impressed with what I saw last night. I didn't get through the whole demo, it was just too late when I started.

I liked that the main character isn't mute. I loved Flemeth's appearance. I liked the action in combat.

On the downside, the identical nature of the Hurlock's was a bit more obvious. The skill trees will take some getting used to.

Overall, I'm eager to get started.

I do like that there are no origins...that would have just been a rehash of the previous game.  I played through all 6 - I see no reason not to change it up this time.

I hated the tactical camera.  I'm glad the game isn't balanced around using it now.

I'm pretty sure Varric has a badass crossbow.

Cliff Hanger ending I have no idea what you're talking about...who knows what's happening at the end.

I never customized my party members anyway so I'm glad I have even less to care about for them now, and the game is balanced as such.

If I want to do a dual wield or archery char, I'd just roll a rogue.  Having warriors with the ability to do that in the first game just watered down the possibilities of the main focus of warriors (dual wield or sword and board), as they had to have a whole weak archery tree in there.
