I'm not a big fan of the newish art direction. Never cared for the Japanese style of large weapons, overly exaggerated angles for armor, etc.

Other then that, most of the changes I liked.

After I played the demo, I ejaculated uncontrollably and without intention on my screen. Afterwards I went to the computer shop and found they had the DA2-Ejacu-Cleaners....at a great price so yes I think I like all the changes.

Lol, classic!

I totally liked all of the changes. They fixed pretty much everything that was wrong with DAO. Looking forward to full version.

I think the facial expressions on people look better

I'm iffy on this one.  I think they are better in some respects, but the eyes are frankly just messed up.  People don't look like they're focusing on the person they're talking to (they always seem to be looking just slightly over their head or to the side) and the small expression changes around the eyes I think are actually WORSE than in Origins.  Maybe this is because I keep expecting Isabela to drop her upper eyelids to look a bit sultry or coy.  Her expressions just don't seem to fit, and her voice seems so flat and expressionless to me.

I think the expressions on FemHawke are gold, though.

I don't like every change, but I am happy with the overall package. To enjoy every single change would require an uncritical mind. I am a very discerning person.

I don't know.  I mean there are things about DA:O and DA:2 that I don't like in general, but I'm just talking about the changes that they made from DA:O to DA2 specifically.

Obviously Bioware thinks every change it made was good, otherwise it wouldn't have made them.  So I don't think it's impossible to like every change.

Now why do you have to troll and then fanboys come b!tching why TW2 is brought up?

This thread is about CHANGES, The Witcher didn't have those things in the first place (but had a lot more stuff DAO didn't)

My sig is there because I support TW2, just people people support Tali, DA2, the crap from 02.01.2011 etc.

Don't pick fights, troll

What a marvelous warped mind you must have to think ill put witcher 2 on my sig and post negative about Dragon Age ya that clearly isnt the signs of someone needing attention.  Your so right clearly you are a unbiased fan my bad.

I love oldschool RPGs but I'll be the first to admit, DA:O combat needed to evolve. I like the changes personally. The only thing I'm worried about is the game keeping a tactical flavor. The demo felt a bit mindless and on god mode. One reason I liked DA:O better on PC was because it was more tactical, IMO.

I'm loving it all, but then I've always preferred Mass Effect over Dragon Age. Mainly because of faster-paced combat, voiced protagonist and conversation wheel. A non-voiced protagonist is fine in a text-based game such as BG2 (which is awesome), but it feels so out of place in a game where every single character in the game except the protagonist has a voice. Even minor ones. The conversation wheel is a lovely invention, in my opinion. It allows you to pick an answer faster, and therefore allows for more natural and cinematic conversations.

I do not care in the least about the lack of origins. Playing as Hawke just means that I get a more vibrant protagonist that actually interacts with the world around him/her rather than just the puppet with my hand up his/her backside that the warden was. I'll gladly trade a little bit of freedom for immersion.

Combat feels fantastic. I've never cared for tactical combat, though. Once again, it worked very well in BG2 (it felt almost like chess), but in a three dimensional game world it just feels unnatural. Bores me to no end. So I am very well well pleased that my characters now actually act when I press a button.

Also, the new art direction looks beautiful in my eyes.

Other people will have other preferences, of course, but in my opinion, this game seems perfect.

Maybe you, like myself, have just been spoiled by some of the eye mods out there for DA:O (which also had pretty crappy eyes in the vanilla version).

I do have some complaints(FF on Nightmare only for example), but nothing that really makes me dislike the game. I'll definitely enjoy playing through it.

I love all of it. Just fantastic.

You LIKE the fact that's there's no origins, no races, no tactical camera, no crossbows, cliff hangar ending, you can't change armor and different weapon types for party members, warriors can't duel wield or use archery, there's less specializations etc?

Do you see me saying ME2 or KOTOR was bad? Hell no, I loved those games more than The Witcher. Do you see me saying DAO was bad? (though I did dislike some parts)

I dislike most of the changes hence my negative posts. It's called CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM. Maybe when you get your tongue off BioWare's ass you'll learn it's ok to dislike something your favorite devs made, they won't hate you for it.

Yeah I guess.  I suppose since Mass Effect 2 is one of my top 5 games of all time probably (one of the few games in recent memory that I've actually played through to completion multiple times), then that's why these DA2 changes suit me perfectly.

And therein lies the problem most people have with DA2: it's no longer made for the "oldschoolers", it's intended for a different audience altogether.

I've read countless posts on other forums by people who hate the first game (or the majority of the aspects of it) saying they're glad the new one is different, and how they'll buy it now. The sequel to a game that was never made for them in the first place, now catered specifically towards them.

It just doesn't make much sense in my mind, but Bioware have admitted that they are trying to attract a new audience, and Stanley Woo has stated that they expect (and don't care) that they'll lose those core fans, as they hope/believe that the numbers of new fans they will get will more than make up for their departure.

That's how I like to be treated.

I agree. It is strange that so many people expect all dragon age games to stay exactly the same forever.

I'm pretty excited about it. My main gripes about DA:O - the slow combat, especially as a 2h warrior; disapproval having little effect on how companions interact with the PC; not knowing the intention of some dialogue options - have been fixed, and I'm interested to see how the story progresses, given there's been so few spoilers about the bulk of the quests.

I'm sad about my favourite character having his voice actor changed, and a little worried about how limited the different areas will be, but I've seen nothing so far that has given me second thoughts about my pre-order.

Even the most pathetic fanboy couldn't possibly love all changes. They butchered DA universe and spat on true fans in an effort to attract brainless console crowds.

Here is one of them

I'm just curious if there is anyone
else that actually likes every single change they've made between DA:O
and DA2?  I'm sitting here, trying to think of something that I
preferred in the first game and I simply can't.

  • I like the talking protagonist (and the femHawke VO is great)
  • I like the faster more actiony combat
  • I think the facial expressions on people look better
  • I like the dialog wheel summary instead of the complete sentence being written out
  • The ability trees and level up system is a lot more streamlined and looks better
  • The "R" button!  (auto-target and attack nearest guy and auto loot nearest corpse)
  • I've liked every character (minus Carver and Wesley...good thing they die really early!)
  • The normal difficulty of the demo seemed spot on for me.
  • I love the fast animations, and big swords and stuff
I'm
sitting here and reading a lot of complaints and can't find myself
agreeing with any of them.  Is anyone else like me?

I don't like how much they've sexed this game up. Every charcter has massive hips and boobies. Fair enough I like them sort of things in life. But I don't want a game to be shoving them in my face every few minutes. A few chracters that look nice would be easily to accept. But when Flemth looks like a 21 year old going out for halloween it kind of loses the sense of immersion origins had with the charcters personality and looks. So far I like all the changes including the artwork. But two things I'm hoping for is more ugly charcters and hope the difficulty scales better than in origins.

Sometimes it seems like people forget something: Videogames are still a business. If Bioware attracts many more new people to buy the game it means more money.  It would be nice yes if they kept making classic RPGs, and there are some niche developers who still do that sort of thing. Those people aren't owned by EA though.

I love old games such as BG2 (it's my favourite game). That doesn't mean I can't appreciate DA2 for what it is. It's different, but seems to be lovely in its own way. Why people think that their special preferences should be catered to just because Bioware has made a certain kind of games in the past (and far from all of them have been alike) is completely beyond me.

I personally don't mind the change really. I actually liked most of the changes, personally I found it extremely fun because it was more fast-paced and now it doesn't feel 2h swords are useless in a sense (I don't mean they're useless but, I love the fact they aren't as slow as in origins). Generally I find the change nice, and I can't blame them for wanting to experiment I guess they saw that mass effect was doing well and wanted to try there hands in this sense. Just my two sense.
