I think the problem here is not just the fact that a lot of people are complaining (complaints are good as long as they are constructive) but the complaints themselves seem to be entirely divorced from both common courtesy and explanation. Too oft we see cries of "IT SUCKS" without hearing any real reasons as to why people think it sucks, or at least reasons that aren't along the lines of "ugly" and "I hate it".
Come on guys, were all better than this, if you want to bash the demo then do so but do it politely, try and point out the flaws with at least some level of decorum and tact at the very least it will ensure that people can't just write you off as "bitter".
And I liked most of it, though I think I will have to get the full game before I can say how much I like it.

I've explained why I dislike the new systems thouroughly and completely. All I get is people telling me to GTFO.
The lovers of this game are far bigger trolls than the haters.

-Mass Effect dialogue wheel
-Voiced PC
-Over-the-top combat animations and enemy deaths (rogue backflips and kicking flasks in mid-air for example)
-Friend/Rival system (seems to me like a step down from Origins system)
Those are the ones that came to mind. Still, I'm going to get this game and judge it later.

First I haven't told you anything like GTFO.
Second, I did explain the parts I liked, but still you speak in plural.

What is a fairly big concern of mine is what seems to be the limited independence of every enemy; it's possible that the demo had the 'earlier' enemies, which just have the basic attack, but even so, I would've liked every one of them to have some sort of debuff, root ability; and therefore be less numerous in number. (That didn't sound tautological); as it is, it's dreary to just concentrate on a single boss, with the rest of the enemies representing cannon fodder, and requiring little impromptu thinking.

I suppose its just because I cannot understand a lot of the complaints about race choosing and dialogue options. I can accept that people don't like them, what seems odd to me is that people come here to moan about it and that they also seem so keen on harkening back to an older time.

We need a "Large Text" option for console users.

I could live w/o the dialog wheel, though I do like the context icons and hope those make it in for ME3. I think the VO for FemHawke is nice however.
Tactical camera. I just need one maybe two more clicks back on my mouse wheel to be happy and more comfortable. I can and will adjust but it's a little to tight on the party for my tastes in some cases.
The animations are much improved and I love the new ones for combat.Sure some of them are a little over the top and silly but the pace and dynamics of them make combat feel better. Walking is a little odd though as they seem to slide a bit, but not as bad as an Elder Scrolls title...
I like the new visual style more. Its less generic, the armors have a nice flavor to them, and I like the punched up saturation. Character model proportions are much better this time around too. They definitely hit their goal on providing a distinctive style.
Not sure if I like all the UI changes. I like the new trees and how they tie the icon shapes into passive, active, and sustained. Don't like the setup for potions. Do like where the party members are located which is close the hotbar. Tooltips provide some better information on abilities than last time, but still some information lacking. New Codex layout is better and worse, better readability but poorer on which is a new entry.
I didn't get any banter in the demo, so hope its still there to the same extent as was in DAO. I also miss being able to talk to party members while out and about. I didn't care for the landmark dialog system in Awakenings and hope its kept to a minimum here.
I will miss gearing up my party much as I missed it in ME2. Yes, yes I know weapons, neck, runes and such which keeps it from being as disappointing as I found that aspect in ME2, but it will be missed.
Not having skills is a definate downer. I like games with a persuade/intimidate system in place & that didnt make it over to DA2.
So far so good from the small snippet of the demo, but I really hope this is about as close as ME and DA come to one another. I like them each for their distinct differences and don't need a ME medieval version.

Im hoping the TAB key will show enemy health bars in the full game, and yes i also prefer DAO ogres.
I really like the dialogue wheel and having a voice PC. Certainly wont miss the mute warden and the small origin plots, but i can still go back to them in DAO like im currently playing ME1 again
The combat imo is 90% the same as DAO but more fluid. Though im not keen on the rogue cartwheels.
All in all based on the small demo i generally approve the direction their taking.

-Better fighting system (no shuffling, no stale attacks)
-Ability to really experiment with diverse character builds as opposed to specific archetypes
-Friendship/rivalry system (that was definitely needed)
-Better graphics (that's a given, but I like DA2's look better)
-Interactive conversational system (I don't have to skip dialogue now)
-Much better archery system (Origins archery sucked...I played a DA2 archer and I'm sold)
-From the looks of it when you get a companion you'll be able to start building him/her early (no more bad builds in Origins, where Alistair took till end game to make him a viable tank for example)
-The female gets a default like the male Hawke (not that I will choose the default because I like custom making my characters, but it's nice to see the female get some recognition)
That's not to say I dislike Origins or that Origins is a bad game. Origins took a lot of my time when I got it and I loved the game, but its like how many players felt with Mass Effect 1 going into ME2, DA2 for me is just a better game overall. My one and only gripe would be the exaggerated scene featuring the default Hawke and not your custom character, that just seems odd, especially if you're playing a black, asian (or even blonde/redhead) Hawke (then again that's probably just the demo),

I for one honestly believe that change is good. It's like eating chicken for a week that by the seventh day you would like to kill the cook serving you chicken. Change is always good and what I have seen in the demo, the game is going to be a hit.
Don't bother with those who complain about the changes. They just need some time to realize that if they wish then they may play Dragon Age Origins for the rest of their lives (or until Bioware cuts support for the game at least).
I for one will enjoy this demo until the date of release of the actual game. Cheers.
That's exactly what I have to say to the people who incessantly complain about the game not being Dragon Age: Origins 2.0. If they hate the new game that much they should just play the same game over and over again. I liked Dragon Age: Origins, I like Baldur's Gate 2, all those games, but variety is the spice of life. Dragon Age isn't about a few characters, but a story of an evovling fantasy world where heroes come and go. If we just kept playing "The Warden" and focused only on fan favorite characters and locations, the series would never go anywhere.
There were things I disliked about Mass Effect 2 (you can't be friends with a squadmate without pursuing a romance, inventory/party armor removal, etc...) that I miss about Mass Effect 1. I'll personally always like Mass Effect 1 better than 2, but I respect that Mass Effect 2 had some qualities that made it awesome (combat upgrade specifically). I'm pretty sure there will be aspects from Origins that I'll miss in DA2 (Dual Wielding Warrior and Arcane Warrior some examples). But it's not a gamebreaker for me. I was happy with what I played as far as the demo went, and it looks like its going to be a fantastic game in its own right.
And I wish some would quit accusing people who do like the new changes and direction of being obsessive fanboys or bootlickers. Not all of us are. Some people are just happy with new changes. Those that aren't are welcome to play the games that satisfy them.
