I disagree. I find something to like and to dislike about both Shepards, and both Hawkes.

FemShep has a tendency to sound irritated/bored/exasperated every time she speaks. She does the paragon lines the best.

MaleShep sounds a bit more monotone, but he does humourous lines better and is the better Renegade.

From what I've heard of Lady Hawke and Mike Hawke, they're both on par with each other. Some lines are ready differently, but both are equally valid. There's only one line I've noticed one of the actors delivering in a way that I consider superior, and that was Mike Hawke's delivery of one of the Humourous lines.

I quite like that though. Remind's me of my better half I guess (especially the exasperated bit;))

Mike Hawke's voice isn't gruff enough for his beard. That's the main problem I have with it.

There is no usurpation.

Male Hawke has the Beard of Awesome (that may have been harvested from Duncan at Ostagar), and requires no public demos to assert His Greatness. :)

I'm glad they've been showing femHawke off. It's about time the gaming industry paid a bit more attention to us women.

I don't know how anyone could prefer FemHawke's VA to DudeHawke's. FemHawke sound like an adolescent girl, where as DudeHawke sounds like a strong adult male with some command in his voice..

If PC Hawke is supposed to be the eldest of the three siblings, then FemHawke is definitely a let down because she sounds so young in comparison to DudeHawke.

I think it's great that both male and female version of Hawke are getting the attention they deserve.

I mean, why do all the work of including a female version if you'll never show her off to the people. That's the part I never understood about Mass Effect.

I like both male and female Hawke, but intend to use the female version more. Her looks and voice are really great.

A quick demo isn't really enough time to judge, so I can't say I really have a preference. Though the demo does make me suspect I may end up liking Male Hawke's VO a bit more.

I am certainly glad to see Bioware continuing with their tradition of making the player character customizable as either gender.

And if marketing is being a bit less reluctant to admit Lady Hawke's existence, I suppose that's good too. Though I have to agree with whoever noted that all the actual trailers still seem to be Male Hawke's exclusive domain.

Lady/femHawke should be canon.

No. And neither should be Lord/DudeHawke.

Indeed.

Last I heard, ManShep/BroShep/whatever the heck you want to call him was not canon. Featured in all the trailers, yes, but trailers aren't really canon. Though I can't say I've read all the side stories that have been published, so far as I know, Bioware have done a wonderful job avoiding mention of Shepard's gender in anything that is canon.

Is it me or has MaleHawke been usurped by Lady Hawke?  In most of the latest demos and stuff, all we see is Lady Hawke.  I'm not necessarily complaining, but it is kind of a switch from the earlier trailers that focused on MaleHawke.

...and, your point is? I say more please.

This, change is good and welcomed.

This is a very welcome change. Lady Hawke is definitely not 'usurping' Male Hawke, she is catching up.

Cause being a hater of Male RPG protagonists is cool now.

*NOTE*

Not saying FemProtagonist fans necessarily hate or dislike MaleProtagonist, nor do I have anything against( with exception of some douchebags).

Female?

Her nickname isn't femhawke though. The thing everyone has been calling her is Lady Hawke for months.

In fact if you want to be correct you'd refer as her as Marian Hawke.

It's not hating the male protagonist to want to see equal exposure of both genders.

I would probably have picked a female character first regardless of the marketing. I usually do, when female characters are available.

The only reason I am sold on this game is because the Dragon Age devs have taken the time to show us some Lady Hawke and the fact that it's obvious they spent time crafting her character model.

No, it was the second piece of dialogue after your sibling dies. He says "At least father will have company" or something. Male Hawke says it in this darkly ironic manner that I love.

More men play these games than women. More men will buy it if it featured a hot female main character. Simple economics.
