I thought giving the main character a voice (and a name even) was a bad idea. It puts too many limits on the main character. I knew I seemed to be in the minority on this, but I can't be the only one can I?
Am I the only one who dislikes the main character having a voice?

They probably took that from Mass Effect. A lot of people seemed to like it and it worked. I get what you are saying but the "cinematic feel" seems to be a hit with the masses. I like both

No you're not. We are a bit of a minority, it would seem, however. I don't know that it's a "bad idea" per se, but I'm with you on it not being to my personal taste.

I don't, but I miss the MANY options you had in Origins.
In DA2 it seems you have a maximum of 3 choices only... that's what fails me, not the voice acting...

It also makes the story more personal to have a voiced, named character. It only slightly takes away from customization. I'd say the positive outweigh the negatives when it comes to this.

The voice doesn't really limit anything becasue you still only have a few preset dialogue options. Even in Origins you picked what your Warden sounded like. Also, the name is really no different then in Origins because you had a set last name, people just refer to you as it now. I don't really see what the big difference is.

The days of emotionless, voiceless characters presenting us with selections of text, making us feel like the NPCs, completely disconnected from the character were interacting with are over. Get over it, or don't either way its gone.

I dislike it as well. Maybe cuz it different from KOTOR and DA:O. I also dislike the fact your character is forced upon, ruins the rpg element.
my 2 cents.

I like it a lot more (if the voice VA is good) because my warden would say something it just felt like he was a mute and disconnected from everyone else.

I loved it. I'm just more worried about the "tone" thing in the game. Especially since early on im not sure how I want my hawke to sound.

I don't really like the dialogue wheel or the voiceover either.. In DA:O I could skip all the dialogue but I found in the DA2 demo that while skipping is possible, it's somewhat slower than in Origins. I can't really elaborate as I'm a terrible describer but yeah

If I had any problems with the new voice and dialogue wheel it would be that I can no longer see what I'm actually going to say. As far as the name the situation of the character and the environment seems to already be laid out in front of you, allowing really little to your own imagination.

I like it somewhat, although I'm hoping I'll feel more in tune with my Hawke when I get to customize his face... For some reason thats importent to me.

i really dislike it. i have a lot less control over who the player character is. Now there are less dialogue choices and the tone of the dialogue choices is predecided... I like imagining the PCs voice myself.
it works out for mass effect, being a game with a movie feel. but it's just not what i want from dragon age

I don't know yet, let me go through the story. So far the only thing I know I am going to miss is the constant banter from Alistar....I love a good comical, sarcastic, jerk in the bunch....

I was a little bit nervous when I heard about this and the dialogue wheel. However, after I heard about that I payed more attention to the speaking options in DA:O and I realized it was the same-ish responses. There were questions that were just for gathering information, a nice answer, sarcastic witty answers, and jerk answers. All they did different for DA2 was take what they would have written, organized it, and put icons next to it.
As for the voice acting, I was nervous when I thought the voices wouldn't sound cool, but after hearing them both with different tones, I'm too in love with the voices to be unhappy with the change.

I prefer a voiced protagonist. But you aren't the only one who dislikes it.

I don't care if the main character is voiced or not. But the Warden was a constantly zoned out mannequin. That was irking. I like to see the main character emoting.
