With the help of Google Translator

"With DirectX 10, however, it is smooth clean and no longer flickers - even high-resolution textures and active in the background is seen SSAO"

So yeah i would say High-Res Textures are able with DirectX10

I think it looks good, but my inner graphics **** has to point these out...

Why is it so black in the corner? Is the sea a perfectly even abyss? And why does it look like I'm seeing through a texture surface on the cliff above that?

Direct-X9 looks much brighter than Direct-X11. Overall Direct-X11 is the Winner! The Consoles will always be the Sucker when it comes to this!

The brightness is due to the screen space ambient occlusion setting. I have it enabled in the demo as well. It seems to have an affect on the lighting and shadows. Overall, the game does look much better with it on if at times a bit darker than I'd like.

Yes The Witcher 2 has better graphics, it has better graphics than most games. Just because there is better doesn’t mean DA2 isn’t good it’s just not OMG THESE ARE THE BEST GRAPHIC EVER!!!11

High-Res textures are not bound to the DirectX version. So any PC capable can run them.

However, in order to actually enable most directx11 effects (like the voluminous ground) you need to also enable high-res textures. Most directX11 effects are bound to high-res textures.

The second screenie comparison is really cool, the woman to the right of the pictures dress in both images, plus the cylindrical pylon wall behind the women in the centre of screen, can't wait to play this game at full whack.

I don't know how much DirectX 11 features were working in the demo, nor do I know how much any of the graphics settings were working in the demo, but there were very clear differences down to even how the blood looked (especially blood pooling on the ground) between playing on the default settings and jacking everything to max.

I, for one, don't sweat all the technical details of different graphics settings. I'm just happy that things look much, much better on my PC than it does on my XBOX 360 or PS3. So, while the game has clearly been built for the console this time around, Bioware hasn't completely forgotten about the PC players, as evident by the clear difference in graphical quality.

Same for me demo runs better under directX 11 settings (smoother) and looks better. Faces more natural and more detailed. Still from what I understand the demo is not optimized for D11 so I'm looking forward to what they final game will look like in a couple of weeks

Yes yes, the Witcher 2 has wonderful graphics far beyond DA2's, because it was devolped ground up for the PC instead of having to redistribute resources and manpower on three different SKUs for 3 platforms. . .  Your point?

I have pre-ordered both games and plan on enjoying both, this infantile "IT HAZ BETTER GRAPHIX THAN DA2" bulls*it is stupid and unnessesary.

AMEN

Seriously why are fans that eager for a conflict between DA and Witcher fans? A problem with your self-esteem?

I want both games and I'll get both games and screw these so-called fanboys over.

I feel good for those who have DirectX 11.

I'm on the 360 so I don't have to worry about graphic cards or upgrading my tech, but I'm always stuck with what is packaged in the console.

I hope you guys enjoy those beautiful graphics, because they are without a doubt amazing.

But I'd also point out that there's nothing stopping you from getting a nice PC rig you know ;)

Hmm, I may wind up replacing my graphics card after all. The detail with DirectX 11 and Hi-Res is really incredible.

Hope my Xfire HD5870M will pull through.

I know they're capable, have played better looking games in DX11 that was pretty stable. But I'm worried about optimization.

Lightning and shadows are far superior with high graphics turned on. Luckily I had no big problems playing with DX11 on in the demo. ^_^

What about the actual armour models though? Things like leather straps weren't modelled leaving them rather flat, not so noticeable just running around but in dialogue it was very noticeable.

The sad part is that OC GTX 580 runs the unsupported "Very High" setting in the demo at a whooping 11 fps :)

I know it is locked in the in game setting, but you can enable it in the Configuration Program. It is funny seeing black mess on the floor where the 3-d ridges suppose to be.

After a quick read of the PCGamesHardware article it seems as if the High-res textures are only available for DirectX 10+

("die hochauflösenden Texturen,[...] (die) im DirectX-9-Modus nicht anwählbar sind (genauso wie die anisotrope Filterung)" - the high resolution textures which are not selectable within the DX 9 mode (exactly like anisotropic filtering). )

Strange. I had no issues at max settings. I'm assuming it's just kinks in the demo, as personally, the demo was not resource intensive at all, even on Very High.

And yes, you need DirectX 10 or higher to play on anything higher than Medium, from my understanding. The holdouts still using XP may want to finally upgrade their ancient OS.
