I like FemHawke's VA more than the VA of MaleHawke and her default appearance looks good too. But I don't tend to Roleplay the opposite gender in any game unless it isn't my choice, i.e. FF13. I am unsure myself if I will play as FemHawke and want to know other guys' though on this.

If I do play as a female, thank the Maker there is Isabela, would feel even more weird romancing a male.:bandit:

Or you could just use the RPG defense

Which has been passed down the generations and goes like this:

"heck, if I'm going to spend hours on a game looking at someone's ass, Let it be a chick's"

there you have it

LOL, being an avid Lara Croft fan I have no problem playing as female protagonists.

My thought is that you're a little insecure if you feel "weird". It's just a game. Would you feel "weird" playing a character of a different race, or even species? If not, what's different about another sex?

My roommate, a very straight guy, always plays as females because he says he'd rather stare at a cute girl on the screen for hours, hahaha.

It's a roleplaygame if it offers you more choice, and good looking at that, you take it of course! =]

inb4 the "imma not gay staring at man buttz for 40 hourz"

Oh, seems like I was ninja'd about it. Oh well.:bandit:
But seriously, even if I prefer playing as a guy, I won't hesitate doing a female playhtrough too after that.

Trying to fully experience the game after all.^_^

And what's up with all this butt stuff anyway? It just seems quite odd that the only thing you are focusing on is main character's ass?

Gotta go with ManHawke, simply because I'm a guy.  I'm probably going to customize the appearance simply bc the beard isn't as cool as it looked in early trailers....  Image IPB

I prefer: "I'm secure enough in my masculinity that it doesn't bother me."

I get that some guys like roleplaying as girls. I dont. When I play roleplaying games, especially ones that have customization, I just can't do it as a girl. Its hard for me to get into the character.
I like being a guy too much. That, and I think Male Hawkes voice is better than Fem Hawkes voice.

I will play both. I had a male and female Warden in Origins i had a male/female Shepard i normally flip a coin on what gender i'm going to play then play the other in my next playthrough.

I feel nothing awkward about playing a maleHawke, so ... 8D why not.

Maybe you have some inner feelings you need to explore IRL man. If you are an RPer, then you can RP either class. You might not like it as much or get into it as much, but you can. Also... its a SP game... and scripted... so... its just you and the comp... not many out-side horrible or embarrassing consequences here that I can think of.

If anyone else has a good horrible or embarassing story - please, by all means, enlighten me. I would assume most of those stories involve MMO's =p

It depends on the gamer. I'm a sap for a good heroine though, so I tend to play with a female character if I can.

That is exactly what I say and the reason I do like to play as female characters, especially in third person games. Also, as with the case of Mass Effect, I find the female characters also more interesting.

As an avid P&P RPG player, it isn't an issue of insicurity, it is more of Roleplay. I play as males as it is my gender and easier to Roleplay.

I might do female Hawke as a Rogue. I think the stance and the little hops suit her better than they do male Hawke. But I don't really care much either way.

Historically, not a ton has changed in Bioware games based on your player character's sex, anyway, except pronouns in dialogue and your romance options. Although some of the dialogue in the DA2 videos I've seen so far seem to indicate that female Hawke and other women might encounter sexism/misogyny, which would be really interesting.
