I'm not going to buy this. That being said, saying a gaming company is "selling out" for trying to make money from their product is an indication of dilutsions about the relationship between gaming companies and gamers... You don't want the coasters? Don't buy them. Saying you don't get the full game experience is bull, and I believe most of you know it. A bunch of fancy in game item don't make or break a game. So unless your last name is Baggins, there's no reason to go into a hissy fit over a ring (even if gives you +50 to everything or watsnot).

Just my two copper.

I don't think anyone is saying it will make or break the game.   But items are just as important as some other aspects and it is just sad it has come to this.  To some not having "it all" would not be the full game experience.  Others would say that the extra stuff didn't matter.  I know I still get irritated when I think about how I missed out on the Terminous and Collector stuff for ME2.  I still love the game but it irritates me still.

Sadly this is becoming so common place and there seems to be no stopping the "dangle DLC and they will buy" practice because they know it will be sold.  Many would rather just buy the DLC itself without the extra stuff tagged along.

Does anyone know if this is open to PS3 owners as well?

Let's face it the best armor in me2 was the N7, the rest were mostly decorative, accept the collector armor with his hp bonus, but ovarall still didn't stack up to the N7. The collector gun kinda sucked (always out of ammo) and was a not as good equivalent of the geth rifle that was available in game. Singularity gun ofcourse didn't hold a candle to the nuke... DLC is bonus content nothing more nothing less. Not to mention that around half the dlc so far were available for free (kicking myself for not getting in time for the signature edition)

That's me as well.  Started following the announcement area a few days too late.

Pass. I'm not paying real money for weapons in a game. I'll take whatever comes along from expansions etc. DLC if it is worthy. After DA:O I will not buy DLC right off the bat, I'll wait and see what people think of it. Whether it is worth the money. The DLC in DA:O was lacking.

As much as I want the ring, I refuse to pay such ridiculous shipping prices costing more than the Signature edition itself.

I understand the marketing, but it is unfair to the general individual consumer.

OK, I know for a fact there is a full size Staff of Parthalan. The non-Laidlaw demo presenter (David?) was wielding it at SDCC. When can we order one of those beasts?

waiting for the happy meals that explode in blood and we have to sift through the remains of that darkspawn box for our item code. actually this would be kinda cool.

also remember it could be worse: witcher 2 are going to sell the finisher moves seperatly... talk about incomplete gaming experience...

Horrible so.  Which is why I am hoping they learned from the experience and do it right this time.

See, I'd consider it (since I live like a few hours away from them :D ) But I don't wanna waste money when I don't know if it is on PS3 (doubt it based on wording)

This.  Especially since the ring may actually be quite nice:
"The downloadable item, Ring of Whispers, unique code will be sent to
each user on launch date of Dragon Age II. Purchases of $15.00 or more
are entitled to receive the Ring of Whisper download for free. Improve
your cunning, attack speed, and ensure your enemies drop additional coin
on defeat."
...but even if it's for all three classes, I can't see paying $15 for desk decor that I really don't need.  I'm still frosted that I didn't pre-order back when the price was still $40 on Amazon...

I noted you can choose to buy it for whatever price you want, instead of getting it free, but then the site wants to charge you $9.95 for shipping and handling??? WTF?

Since I wanted the coasters I just put $0.00 for the ring and included it with the order. Why they say you can set our price for the ring is beyond me. I was a little confused by that as well.

sadly many of us do not own this on PC. If i had the money to blow on a computer rig that could run this, then i would and this dlc extra junk wouldn't concern me. However, being stuck on a console, we don't get the luxery of mods. :( darn you grad school for keeping me with an outdated pc.
