I'm not going to buy this. That being said, saying a gaming company is "selling out" for trying to make money from their product is an indication of dilutsions about the relationship between gaming companies and gamers... You don't want the coasters? Don't buy them. Saying you don't get the full game experience is bull, and I believe most of you know it. A bunch of fancy in game item don't make or break a game. So unless your last name is Baggins, there's no reason to go into a hissy fit over a ring (even if gives you +50 to everything or watsnot).

I don't think anyone is saying it will make or break the game. But items are just as important as some other aspects and it is just sad it has come to this. To some not having "it all" would not be the full game experience. Others would say that the extra stuff didn't matter. I know I still get irritated when I think about how I missed out on the Terminous and Collector stuff for ME2. I still love the game but it irritates me still.
Sadly this is becoming so common place and there seems to be no stopping the "dangle DLC and they will buy" practice because they know it will be sold. Many would rather just buy the DLC itself without the extra stuff tagged along.

Not to mention that around half the dlc so far were available for free (kicking myself for not getting in time for the signature edition)
That's me as well. Started following the announcement area a few days too late.

I understand the marketing, but it is unfair to the general individual consumer.

The DLC in DA:O was lacking.
Horrible so. Which is why I am hoping they learned from the experience and do it right this time.

This. Especially since the ring may actually be quite nice:
"The downloadable item, Ring of Whispers, unique code will be sent to
each user on launch date of Dragon Age II. Purchases of $15.00 or more
are entitled to receive the Ring of Whisper download for free. Improve
your cunning, attack speed, and ensure your enemies drop additional coin
on defeat."
...but even if it's for all three classes, I can't see paying $15 for desk decor that I really don't need. I'm still frosted that I didn't pre-order back when the price was still $40 on Amazon...

also remember it could be worse: witcher 2 are going to sell the finisher moves seperatly... talk about incomplete gaming experience...
sadly many of us do not own this on PC. If i had the money to blow on a computer rig that could run this, then i would and this dlc extra junk wouldn't concern me. However, being stuck on a console, we don't get the luxery of mods.
