I've tried re-installing the demo numerous times, and I've made sure my drivers and everything for my video card are up to date.  What happens:

I start the game, and get to the launcher, if I hit "Play", it goes to  to the Config tool, and then the game crashes to desktop. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64 bit.

Are you running the program as an admin? Either with an admin account our by right clicking on the icon and selecting "Run as administrator"?

Try running the game directly from Programfiles (x86)>Dragon Age 2 Demo>bin_ship>DragonAge2Demo.exe

Do you have the latest version of DirectX 9?

 Same problem here! Game doesnt start no matter witch video settings I choose. Drivers & DirectX are up to date. Tried it directly from the directory and with administrator rights. MD5 Checksum is correct.

Same problem demo refuses to run. Updated drivers + DirectX. Disabled fullscreen, sound, v-sync, low quality settings,etc Win 7 64 bit, i5 760, P55A-UD4, 8GB DDR3, 2x 280 GTX, ASUS STX

RaenImrahl's idea ended up working for me, I have no problems running the game now.
