It was a demo. At least we got that .I'm happy I got to demo the game. I played all three classes. The new rogue style is awesome, Mage is cool too.I pre ordered when the announcement of the game came out.I'm keeping it. Antisipation is killing me.

Think this kind of proves people who hated the demo are merely a mouthy minority.

I could counter by saying that just because their is a majority, that doesn't mean that they are right.

If you care nothing for the established lore and feel of the DA series, than the demo is awesome. It's a bit bland/generic in a lot of ways but with more than enough polish to sell well to the "Ooooh shiny" crowd. It's not top-of-the-line graphics by any stretch of the imagination, but it's polished enough and the game play is fun (if shallow) enough to attract a positive following.

Conversely, if you care about the story, the setting, the characters, and the overall feel/ambiance from the First game, you should (not that many people WILL) take a long hard look at the demo and what it seems to be offering/indicating about DA2. I've been considerably mute about my criticisms of the demo, mostly because of the in-limbo status of my pre-order.

I will say this though, the demo did nothing to convince me that my pre-order is worth it. I may wind up keeping the pre-order. I may cancel it entirely. After playing the demo, I'm not sure I'm in Bioware's "target demographic" and that makes me uncomfortable going forward. Add on top of that the dubious nature of my ability to reasonably play the game (for both the PS3 and PC version [though I've had no problems yet, DA:O is near impossibly laggy with it's memory leak and EA/Bioware's refusal to test their products on multi-core systems, let alone allow and support multi-core machines, leaves me worried.*]), and you get my current position.

*- I'm not even kidding about this. Have an excerpt from a Support conversation I had this morning/last night with the tech person's name removed (so as to not get them in trouble).

[07:56:45 AM] [Tech]: EA games do not share all processor.
[07:56:54 AM] [Tech]: it run on only one processor.
[07:57:20 AM] [Tech] also, mostly system that have 8 processor have problem with every EA game
[07:57:32 AM] [Tech] which means its not tested

I should point out that I said I had a 6 core processor. I first typo'd 8 and corrected myself a moment later, but the tech kept using 8 core when talking about the problem. I have an AMD Phenom II X61000t Black. DA:O runs horribly after 15~120 minutes of play (varies in time frame, but not in consistency). If DA2 is going to be more of the same, than... >.> it might not be worth it.

I have an 8 core and I run all EA games fine, I would think it was your graphics card if anything. Or even system drivers.

I wanked furiously to Isabela.

Also, voiced my anger over the lack of auto attack on the console version. I dont want to mash A in one button combat.

You won't have to in the actual game. There will be an auto-attack toggle.

You're telling me a Radeon HD5770 with 1GB gDDR5 card is not capable of smoothly running a game that is relatively 'old' by gming standards?  That the game somehow has a problem with my SATA3 Hard Drive's Read/Write times (the drive it's installed to) or to my 60 gigabyte Solid State drive (the system partition for Windows and Pagefile.sys)? That the issues I'm having are in no way related to DA:O's instance on using only one of 6 possible cores to the point of not even recognizing that they exist? That horrible memory leakage is not at all the issue, despite it having been a problem for so many in the past (I've searched the forums, some with Quad and Dual Cores had serious issues when the game first came out, some still do.)? Right. No. I don't think so. The problem is likely a meshing of things but the use of only one core (thus increasing demand and ultimately temperature of said core) is as much a part of it as anything else.

Windows 7 64-Bit version, SP1
AMD Phenom II X6 1000T Black Edition 3.30GHz Processor
16 Gigabytes Ram
Radeon HD5770 with 1GB gDDR5
OCZ 60GB Solid State Drive (System Partition)
Seagate 500GB SATA Hard Drive (2 Partitions of 120GB or so with 200+GB of unassigned disk space [not including unused space])

I should not have to restart the game every 20-40 minutes in order to play without serious delay issues. The problem is with the game, not my system. >.>

It’s being given to me for free as a present. If I had preorded it then I might have canceled, not that I expect anyone to believe that in today’s world where nobody is willing to back up their convictions. Instead let me tell you why I might supposedly cancel if I had in fact ordered the game myself – the whole point of a demo is that it’s supposed to give you a solid impression on the game and make you want to buy it. I wasn’t impressed. It’s really that simple.

After the demo, I wanted to change my preorder from 360 to PC, but I'll just wait for the 'ultimate' version for the pc, by then there will be more mods.

After the DA2 demo I....

Still plan on getting the game, but really wish I had pre-ordered the Xbox 360 Signature Edition instead of the PC one.

The one thing that annoys me out of all of this is that the Signature Edition had to be pre-ordered before the demo came out. It would have been nice to get to try both and then decide which version you wanted.

I will say this - if I do decide to dump my PC pre-order, I'm sure as hell going to wind up buying DA2 off of Gamefly instead of at retail. They way I see it, between the keep it price and the coupons I have, I'll be able to get it and that "$20 worth of content" the Signature Edition comes with for the same price as if I pre-ordered it.

Well, a 75% majority is pre-ordering on good faith, and 5% more are pre-ordering but aren't sure if they'll like it.

Yup. Include those who're disappoint but still retain their pre-order.

Not really - we're all here on the forum because we're into Dragon Age. Whether erring towards the 'Like' or 'Rival' ends of the spectrum, pretty much everyone here has already commited to buying it.

I would cancel my pre-order just to pre-order it again to emphasize the awesome I have just witnessed, but then I would lose my signature edition!

I am really happy with the gameplay, I feel though it is faster it is a LOT more interesting and fluid then the fighting in the first one. It reminds me a bit of combo moves and such from Soul Calibur IV which is awesome to me. Never really had a problem with the wheel in Mass Effect 2, but I will be doing a lot of saving and loading to see all the different bits of dialogue for Hawke.

So the poll doesn't actually represent the vocal voice we hear around. Well for a good reason...

...

You mean the person saying that she loves it so much she wishes she could pre-order it again?

What, are you trying to stretch for any reason you can think of to justify your dislike of DAII, and insist that everyone else must dislike it too? You have no leg to stand on if you're buying the game anyway. So what if it comes with free DLC? If you don't like it, it's still a waste of sixty bucks.
