Their not in the book because you don't know who lives or dies by that point. But they have shown gameplay with siblings when getting Varric, Isabela, Anders and Fenris. So I don't think so. And Sebastian wasn't in the book.Count Viceroy wrote...
I wouldn't be suprised if both siblings end up dying fairly early into the story. We already have 6 party members. They aren't in the 'book' and they are both lacking a specialization tree. Either they die early or they end up taking the role of a npc in the city. As soon as we have a full party.
Btw, where have you heard that the siblings have 1 less Talent Tree? Becasue as I understood, all the companions only had 1 specialization tree.
Also I donät think that Hawke will return to Lothering later in the game, dressed as a peasent and se his other sibling get killed. For one, that Hawke is a mage and mage Hawke loose Bethany early in the game.

Hawke doesn't seem to care about anything in the demo, even their own family. If he/she doesn't, how could Bioware expect the player to care about anything in the game?
It's called pathos, and it is built up over time. You expect immediate emotional heartbreak from a character introduced not 5 minutes prior?

Think about it, the demo didn't cover much of anything that has not already been shown or discussed. I think when the full game comes out, people will be surprised that the beginning is probably as long as an Origin in DA:O
I don't believe the beginning of the demo is the exact beginning of the game, so we will have to wait until the full game hits....

i dont care for his family i only met them for 5 minutesJedi Master of Orion wrote...
I don't mind that I won't care as much about Bethany or Carver but if Hawke doesn't care about them, how are we supposed to care that he (and consequently the player) cares about anything.
if someone you just met died would you shed a tear for them?

The qunari wasn't in Lothering. This was talked about in another thread. If you look closely, you can see that Hawke is mourning Beth in his refugee outfit. Then it switches to him looking at the qunari, and then the NEXT scene is the ogre battle. After that it transitions to a completely different area (I mean, I'm pretty sure I saw hints of green vegetation in the background), ultimately ending in Kirkwall.
It seems to me at least that it's a montage of various events in Hawke's life and is probably for marketing purposes. However, who knows, maybe all those things are in the game. The Beth/Hawke scene could have been from one of Varric's exaggerated tales or something.
It's the blightlands backround.
At 0:05, yes, the qunari first appears, but then there's a quick transition after which you only see the ogre and the darkspawn - which seems to be from around the time Hawke's family was fleeing from Lothering. It is only later that the qunari appears again, which I will get to in a moment.
Now, I'll repeat what I said in the other thread, which is that the rest of Hawke's family seems to be completely absent from the death scene. This parallels Varric's initial exaggerated portion of the story in which you ONLY see Hawke and the surviving sibling. Why wouldn't Leandra and Carver be nearby if this is what "really" happened?
Moving on, when I said "...ogre battle. After that it tranisitions..." earlier, I was specifically referring to the next section starting at 0:12. You see a completely different background from the Blightlands behind Hawke. it is clearly a different color palette, and wherever it is, it's not the Blightlands because there are evergreen trees of some sort, and quite a few of them at that. At 0:13, there same qunari from 0:05 appears again (based on his chest markings and armor) with a group of his men (at least I would assume that they were).
Later on, it clearly transitions to the inside of Kirkwall at 0:14-0:15. While I suppose it's possible that the mystery qunari somehow showed up outside Lothering or near the Blightlands at 0:05, call me a little dubious when it comes to the mystery qunari joining up with the darkspawn or somehow commanding them or that he and Hawke ran into each other after Beth's death and before the battle with the ogre (assuming that the "real" part of the demo was actually what truly happened).
I'd be pleasantly surprised if they did pull one over on us and if events somehow differ from the demo, but we'll have to see on March 8th or later. Meanwhile, I think it's largely a montage - some of this stuff may be in the game, just in different times/areas. In any case, it's nice to have something interesting to try to analyze at least.

Offcorse I would. You have to be coldblooded to not shed a single tear if someone you just met died in front of you.PrinceOfFallout13 wrote...

Anyway, thats not the point. The point is that Hawke have known his siblings for 20 years and still he doesn't seam to care. How would you feel is your brother/sister died in front of you? Would you just joke aboput it and move on?

i didnt cry when my father died so that should tell you something
besides thats how my father raised me never cry and be strong for others seriously being the leader of the family and then crying in front of them when they all are desperate does not make a great leader thats why hawkes reaction was perfect for me
