Did anyone actually feel for their sibling when he/she died? I sure didn't. I actually think Wesley's death, a NPC we hardly knew, was sadder. Which isn't saying much.
Sibling's death wasn't sad at all.

agreed. The death of Carver/Bethany had totally no impact. It was just "oh... welp, let's move on" *yawn*hackslash*yawn*cullanotherdarkspawn*

This topic has come up a few times in other places of the forums..
I didn't like it overly much either, but apparently it's used to define some of the story later on. We weren't supposed to care.

I think there is already another thread for this.
But yeah, sibling's death wasn't emotional, and MamaHawke's all-your-fault line angers me.
I do feel sad for Aveline, but Wesley's death wasn't emotional for me too.

Yeah. Nobody likes Carver. No sadness really.
But Bethany...WHY!?

Little emotional connection with the character, we were just introduced to them.

When Carver died I honestly sorta laughed just like how I laughed when I killed Wesley. I'm guessing that makes me a horrible person. Also I've only felt sad when Duncan died.

There's a new trailer depicting a more emotional sibling death.

it might be due to editing, I was hoping that was it.
and we weren't supposed to care about them dying? I could understand about maybe one of them being found out to be evil later on, but indifference to both? I felt weird just saying 'oh well! la dee dah, let's move on' after either one of them died.
i'm hoping it was the demo editing.

I agree, but only because I really hate Douche Carver.

Well I think for Carver, he was just a douche, so no one cared. In Bethany's case however, her and Hawke were getting it on, so Hawke was just relieved to be able to sweep the whole incest thing under the rug.

I also think it wasn't very sad or maybe even remotely sad. But I also think it may be because that part had already been spoiled a long time ago. I might have felt a little more emotion or whatever if I didn't know about it.

You also have a ton of Darkspawn coming at you when they die. So the characters did not react since if they did Darkspawn would eat their faces.

There already, like, five threads about this, and the bottom line is: YOU didn't think it was sad, and the point of their death wasn't to make you feel sad anyway.

Agreed, though it may be more emotional if you do one playthrough with one sibling and in the next playthrough they're the one who dies. I thought Wesley's death was sad/touching though.

I don't get why they had to include it at all. Considering Hawke can change between profession/talent and gender depending on player choice I don't see why her sibling couldn't. Would been better if there was no twin and mage Hawke just had one younger brother while warrior/rogue Hawke had a younger sister. No unnecessary very casual death scene with a stab from the players mother about how it's our fault.

I didn't feel for the Cousland Warden's parents either, but my PC did and that's all that matters.

No, but when MamaHawke was all sad and crying, and Hawke had that serious 'Oh hell no' look on his face, I felt the need for vengeance.

I didn't really care really, since I knew it was going to happen. We all knew it was going to happen. It's more or less a game mechanic to even out your party. It happens so early on too that it'd be hard to care no matter what.
Fable II for instance. Your sister dies at the beginning of the game. Did I care? No. I knew she died and even though they tried squeezing back story in it didn't matter because she died within the first 20 minutes anyway.
