Sibling's death wasn't sad at all.

I seriously hope so. origins was my favourite game of the decade. i thought that maybe dragon age 2 would become THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME!

Stop being such a debie downer, you don't have to play this game, and it looks fine to me. We haven't even seen the breadth of what the story will contain.

Sorry, I can't help it. I just loved origins so much, because of the emotional attachment.

It's not a case should WE care about the brother/sister dieing, we don't know anything about them, but in the case of Hawke it's his/her brother/sister. Now in real life even if you hated your brother or sister, you would feel sad if they died, even worse if it was something awfull, the fact Hawke showed a didn't care attitude doesn't bod well for Hawke personalty? Voiced works if it fits with the scene, it just didn't.
I get that argument to some extent, except Bethany clearly felt sad when she says her line about Carver not wanting his death to be in vain or something along those lines. As for Hawke, he/she could come off flippant, or sad as well.
I suppose if one isn't crying, wailing, or gnashing one's teeth though, one can't possibly be sad.
And while one could argue the flippant Hawke was out of place for the scene, one could also argue that there's no point in different dialogue options if one can't roleplay a heartless bastard that uses flippant lines to mask their own emotions.
The only really valid argument I've rarely heard is that one couldn't cry their eyes out I suppose. But, I chalk that up to the different Hawkes they wrote the script for not including such a sensitive one.

I thought the voice work was great, espically male hawk, I'm extremeley impressed with the males voice this time around. Woman sounds like she's flirting every second.
Voice work is good i agree, but for that scene it was awfull due to the lack of options how you think Hawke should react to that.

Yeah, I should have known better. I had it right from the get go when I was telling people on this forum about how odd it was that they spent less than 2 years working on this game, but let the optimists persuade me otherwise. Now it would seem I was right all along. This game still needs A LOT of work before it's even playable. Unless the final version of the game is drastically different, I'd say Bioware has officially sold out. The only thing that will salvage this trash is a heaping pile of DLCs and updates, but then again, they probably had that planned all along.<_<MorrigansLove wrote...

Very good point, i'm too use to Origins style of thinking aswell as in other bioware games, i just found it had that Awakening style of emotion after the joining which i found crass, very scared DA 2 will be like that awfull add on...

I don't like Carver because he opposes his older sister, he does it at least once in the demo.
But, that's what makes the sibling relationship fun (and realistic).

Why we didn't have this scene with Bethany / carver's death ?
It's sad. I hope this will be in the game

It doesn't help that the voice acting of all the other characters sounds like they're commenting on what they shall have for dinner that night, rather than the sudden and brutally violent death of one of their family. The words they use speak of anger and sorrow, but the voice acting does not. The origins in Dragon Age had far more emotional impact because we actually got to know some of the characters before they were torn away from us. In Dragon Age 2, we get a few lines of bickering dialogue -- and not even good bickering like between Han and Leia in Star Wars, just very bland standard made-for-TV bickering -- and then "splat". I expected it to at least be difficult to watch, the the camera angles and speed it was presented at didn't do anything to enhance the impact at all (although Bethany's squishing did evoke a bit more squeamishness since it's just inherently tougher to watch a woman being brutalized).
If the voice acting had at least carried emotion, we might still have believed it, but... well, let's just say I'm surprised that the family name is "Hawke" and not "Wooden".

Yeah, this is why I'll probably end up playing a mage first. Just seems like it'll be a way more dynamic relationship.
