How much of a fan are you?

@Bluko I feel your pain, seems like the internet is the only place where there's ever anyone like you. As hard as I try, I cannot get my family interested in videogames, even though my dad and sis are both tech-savvy. Sucks to be a videogame nerd.

But I haven't bought lithos or clothes yet...
Edited to add:
I completed ME1 5 times, all FemShep/Soldier;
ME2 6 times, all FemShep, only 1 Sheploo but never finished it.. I tried all the classes but mostly completed it with soldiers, but I'm now addicted to Vanguards and Charge.
I'm also planning to get something for my Xbox avatar, but I haven't chosen what I'll get.

Wow man, I empathise with that.Bluko wrote...
I'm a fan, though I really have nothing to show for it.
Though I can see myself gettting an N7 shirt or hoody. I dunno Mass Effect is a series I have enough pride in that I have no shame in clearly making it known. Also it's obscure enough that people who aren't into gaming will probably have no idea what it is, sparing me any bad looks. Of course I already have Star Wars and Monty Python shirts so my nerdiness is pretty well cemented. Frankly it's more people I know that discourage me from getting such things since they'll give me the most flak for be a video game nerd.
Sadly most of my friends are painfully unware/uninterested in Mass Effect. Which is why I'm here to begin with since I really don't have anywhere else to discuss the game proper. Then there's also my parents/family. They all vehemently dislike video games and if I am caught with anything game related there's likely going to be a discussion about how video games are "bad". My Dad is the exception in that he secretly plays Starcraft in his spare time. Of course my family is painfully slow at adapting to current technology. It's only been until recently in the 5 past years or so any have bothered to get computers and or even cellphones. I dunno I can't control them, so if they choose to be technologically ignorant that's on them. Video games are just another one of those things they don't want to understand.
But generally I loathe to get anything that shows off what I like. I always have an incredibly difficult time finding individuals of like mind. I'm really not sure how I manage not to, bad luck in meeting people I guess.

- I bought ME1 for PC, so I could import a character into ME2, and spent December 2009 getting 2 characters up to lvl 60 (each playthrough was pretty much a completionist run thru)
- I bought ME2 collectors edition the day it came out (and payed using only rolled coins!
- I bought a N7 tee, although I never wear it 'cuz my definition of XXL is apparently VERY different from the t-shirt maker's
- I bought the N7 armour stripe hoodie (the old one), and wear it every chance I get 'cuz its AWESOME and the most comfortable garment I own (if you are on the fence aboot buying one BUY ONE NOW, you will not regret it)
- I bought / have all the DLC (and I'll get around to finishing Firewalker someday, I swear!)
So, I may not be a super fan (by this thread's standards), but I AM a pretty big fan

I myself have on my gamertag as the gamerpic the N7 logo from beating ME1 in insanity (better earned then bought) and my Avatar wears the N7 Hoodie.
Check it out; my gamertag is "ECHOS XIII" if you're feeling curious (my avatar is actually a copy of myself).![]()
So what do you have to show for it outside of the forums (anything applies).

I also used MS paint to edit Tali into a picture of me to make it look like we are on a date, which i look at before going to sleep in the hope that it will affect my dreams.
Also, to make my job more exciting on the way to work i play Heart of Courage (the song from one of the ME2 trailers) and recite the illusive man's speech, but in a girls voice (pretending its my boss) and change it slightly to fit my position as a salesman.

I was an (well still am i guess) a narcotic addict. I'm still going through a severe rough patch during the recovery progress, but with no friends (yea one of those situations where your only friends were the ones you were using with) or school, that left a lot of free time.
The only game story in the world that was in depth enough to distract me from the ****tiness of RL was the mass effect universe. I played the 1st one quite a bit.. but the second game...
Well let's just say i've beaten it an unhealthy amount of times. I know every dialogue of every character in and out. Looking back it's clear shepard's squad were my replacement friends. Anyway, I still like to play it (although fighting off urges to be reminded of the worst of my addiction while I 1st started playing ME2) and wonder what would have happened if I didn't have my ME2 to keep me occupied.
so saying i'm a fan is an understatement. For a while I was completely apart of the mass effect universe, and I cannot wait for ME3!
PS: Dragon age helped too, condisering DA:O and ME2 came out around the same time, I played them both. However, the muteness of the warden didnt attract me as much as shepard, who had more personality than richard simmons compared to the warden.
However, DA2 is coming out soon and, with all the updates coming soon (including my favorite; the new dialogue wheel like ME) I'm going to have something else to distract me from crappy RL. Since there isn't much I can do until I ween off my medication completely, playing games like these really help(ed) me when I needed it most.
Shepard was there for me when my friends weren't. Cheers to Shep & Bioware of course

I just realized how similar my situation is if you replace the word narcotic with world of warcraft. I literaly have no friends(internet or rl) after quiting and stupid amount of free time. Yes I was stupid enough to think internet friends that I played with for 4 years would still talk with me 1 month after quiting.DxWill10 wrote...

“We’re at war. No one wants to admit it, but
I'm not mad, i'm just incredibly unhappy with my job and like to make it seem more exciting by pretending i'm Commander Shepard. I like to think that when i make a sale, i'm passing a paragon or renegade speech check, and also Shepard was working for a shady individual with dubious morals in ME2, and Sky is owned by Rupert Murdoch.

...and have written a novel-sized fan fiction based on original characters.
I'm considering writing a novel about Jacob's father. I know Jacob is hated, and I think that loyalty mission is hated, so it would be interesting to turn it around and do it from his point of view. Kind of like Wicked for ME2.
Only problem is that writing doesn't mix well with college. I've writting barely anything in my two unfinished books, and thank goodness I actually wrote one before I got in college so I can hang my hat on that.
But yeah. Ronald Talyor fanfic: The untold story of the scourge of [whatever that planet is called].
