For me I think it’s actually the time skips, the fact that this is an rpg and story that isn’t unfolding in a few weeks but rather a few years. With books you get epic stories that span years but in games and movie, at least those I have seen or played...not so much. I imagine it would be harder to do this with time constraints and in a visual medium. The story always seems rushed and events happen very quickly, sometimes this works but allot of the time the story always seems to move to fast, character development seems forced, friendships and romances especially either seem very fake, like’ hey, I met you 3 days ago and you already the love of my life and I would die for you! Here let me tell you my deepest secrets and fears that I have never told anybody before, even those I have known for years. Also as a result of this one thing you said to me I’m going to completely and instantly change my attitude and outlook on life” or never advances past the beginning stages. Your character goes from zero to hero to fast in many cases too. Random peasant off the street commanding an army? Really?
And you only ever get to see the immediate consequences of you actions, in origins you just got a wall of text ant the end detailing how everything turned out. It would be more interesting to actually see some of th more long terms effects in game. I’m interested to see how bioware handles characters and the world in general changing over time and whether or not they manage to succeed in this.
