dxdiag, and don't bump you posts when they are only 4 minutes old. That tends to get you ignored, not helped.

Thats a quick piece of it yes, post the entire thing. Some of us are actually people who work on computers for a living and can sometimes spot whats wrong off of it you know...Like for instance your little snippet doesn't let me know what sound device you are running which could be the problem to begin with. So post the whole thing like I said.

*edit...sure post it while I was typing that. Alright let me look over it.

I would say; Try updating your nvidia drivers. www.nvidia.com

your actual problem is that you have a 7950 (and based on your description it's a laptop?) with shared RAM. Also, if it's a true P4, then it's a single core with hyperthreading and therefore doesn't "actually" meet the minimum requirements for the game. That said, really the only way to improve performance would be to turn the settings down graphically

Problem number one: Display Memory: 1784 MB Dedicated Memory: 504 MB Shared Memory: 1279 MB. Very old video chipset that actually shares its memory with the rest of system.

Odd there is no mention of your audio setup in there...Do you have a sound card installed or is this running off of onboard sound?

try running the game windowed or at a lower resolution that your desktop.

Turn off gore and frame buffer effects

If that does not help roll back to DX10 and start again

I think the shared video memory is also a huge hurdle. I don't mess with this part of lap tops often, but I wonder is their a way to shut off the memory sharring and have the graphics card run only the dedicated memory? Thusly freeing up the other memory for game resources again. I am concerned with the audio too still. I don't think the onboard sound can handle it. Maybe checking the force stero sound for headphones would reduce some strain there as well.

At a glance, given how hard DA:O pushes CPU's I'd guess your issue is that Pentium 4. The 7950 would probably the next issue, or the combination of the two.

he's got a dual dore 3.0ghz cpu, it clearly says so.

There is nothing wrong with the 7950 as long as the DX10 frame buffer effects are turned off.
It will certainly perform as well as your lower end 9600 series if not asked to do things outside it's remit.

I blame the wildfolk, they always meddle with everything and no one ever see them do it, but I know it's them... I'm watching... I know it's them... ooo'yes...

He's using old Microsoft release graphics drivers, first off he needs to update them.

your actual problem is that you have a 7950 (and based on your description it's a laptop?) with shared RAM. Also, if it's a true P4, then it's a single core with hyperthreading and therefore doesn't "actually" meet the minimum requirements for the game. That said, really the only way to improve performance would be to turn the settings down graphically

he's got a dual dore 3.0ghz cpu, it clearly says so.

There is nothing wrong with the 7950 as long as the DX10 frame buffer effects are turned off.
It will certainly perform as well as your lower end 9600 series if not asked to do things outside it's remit.

My "single core" P4 3.2 hyperthreaded also reports two cores in DirectX... but it's wrong...

I'm pretty sure that most cards are running drivers that now share system ram. For instance my 2 x 640mb cards at default are claiming over 2Gb system ram available to them on top

K so that answers that. FIrst off you are using onboard sound in your desktop, I would suggest getting something along the lines of like the sound blaster titanium xifi edition, or something similiar. The key imporant thing on those particular types of sound cards is they have their own built in ram for processing sound, so they arent using as many system resources. Nextly the video card is rather old and getting a newer one might be a good idea. I don't know how to turn off the shared video memory in it, but that could help. and lastly the processor is technically old, but I can play the game with an even older one, so I suspect that its not the cause of your stuttering.

Really? I am running a single 8800 gtx ultra 768mb from when they came out, and mine doesnt do that.

A more useful way to actually diagnose CPU issues... is CPU-Z which can be downloaded from the link. It's a lot more helpful as far as such things... and I stand by my statement that a 3.0 hyperthreaded isn't actually supported by the game's minimum requirements

BIOS handles shared memory, but I wouldn't suggest poking there unless you know what you're doing.

(in fact, strike this post) :bandit: Update drivers, reboot and check, and tell your results. then do as he suggesten and turn off effects, and play the game without anti-aliasing.
