An Optimized Engine?

Didn't know where to post this, so I decided in the tech support.
I just wanna point out that, my framerate for the Dragon Age 2 was at an all time high than in any situation in Origins. I'm not sure if it's the engine being optimized as hell, or I just got lucky. My computer is a piece of **** and the constant framerate was about 20-30 in Origins. In DA2 during the prologue I was at a constant 40-50 FPS, while at Kirkwall (With the Isabela quest) it dipped to about 30-35.

If it's an optimized engine, I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing. If it's not, and I'm just lucky, yay for me.

What are your specs?

I remember ME2 actually played better than ME1, back when I had an Athlon 64 x2, due to it having a lighter demand for processing power. (Lighter minimum demand, anyhow.) I wonder if we are seeing a similar shift away from CPU load, or if DA2 really is just all-around more optimized. (I'm sure it's at least somewhat the second.)

It's probably more optimized, because remember that this game has to run on the ancient Xbox 360 hardware. So if they added more graphical content and effects, they had to really crunch it down so it stays playable on the Xbox.

And that is unfortunate for us PC users :(

I'd say wait until we see the PC running DX11 in the full game. Then I don't think we'll be to worried about the 360.

Call me curmudgeonly, but if I simply think back a decade or so to games like Deus Ex and KOTOR, games like ME2 and DA2 will once again blow my socks off.

While I have some gripes about the effect of consoles on PC gaming, its damping effect on the graphics arms race is actually something I like a lot. Keeps gaming hardware affordable for us PC folks.
