Can't Level Up?

After downloading the 1.04 patch and started playing the game again, I came across a problem.

My characters can not spend any of their level up points (learning skills, increasing attributes). If I click on something the point just dissapears but I do not get any effect.

This also happens if I try to start a new character, it won't let me spend the beginning attribution points, and also th character dissapears (as in, no player is standing in the beginnign when you decide what origin story you want to go to, if you click next, it doesn't allow you to change any features (because no one is there), and all the attributes are at 10.

Does anyone know how to fix this?  If I'm not being particularly clear, I'll be glad to solve more questions. Let me know.

I really want to continue playing this.

Please hurry! (:

Do you have any mods installed?

Only the SkipTheFade mod

I think I was trying to install one for respecializations, but I needed patch 1.04 for it so I don't think I did it. I might have, my memory is fuzzy. However I tried searching for it desperately and couldn't find it, but I'm not a whiz at these things. Any idea where I could find the supposed file?

Thank you for the response (: Keep 'em coming.

Also, now combat is broken. My characters can swing (very slowly) but it causes no damage and nobody can hurt them either.

I'm really confused.

Should I just delete the game and reinstall? I'll save my gamefiles and whatnot as well.

With the exception of Skip The Fade, which I've used, I try to avoid mods like the plague. However, if you look into My Documents>Bioware>Dragon Age> packages> core> override ... that's where some mods reside. If it was installed with a *.dazip file, then I dunno. It is possible that the mod, or the fact that you applied the patch over the mod, is causing trouble.

Worst case scenario-- uninstall and reinstall the game, patch, and play.

Yeah, there's nothing in the override folder. ):

So your suggestion is to uninstall?

I have the same problem. Downloaded 1.04 patch and now my level 19 rogue can't level up. I get the points, but can't spend them. I cannot do Specializations, either. I have not used any mods that I know of, nor have I used any cheats. How do I 'fix' this?
