Howdy.  Bit of an issue here, and I didn't see it anywhere else.

The game seems to think I don't have internet.  I uhh, well, I do.  I downloaded the demo off steam in 20 minutes or so, I don't usually run into any sort of connectivity issues with the various games I play off steam, etc...

Thought it might be the router, so I disconnected it and am now directly hooked up to the cable modem.  Thought it might be my software firewall, so first tried putting in exceptions for DA2 demo, then just tried turning it off.

No matter what I do, on start-up the game says "You must be connected to the internet to access online features of the title."

When I click "Log In," it again pops up with "You must be connected to the internet to access online features of the title."

I have tried restarting, reinstalling, etc, and nothing seems to fix it.

:(

Did you configure the game and save the settings first?

Of course.  The game makes you do so.

Heya CarsomyrPlusSix I'm having the same problem. I've tried pretty much the same things. Would this perhaps have something to do with location? I'm playing from South Africa, East Coast.

Ok. I sort of got it to work. Just a warning though I'm no techy so I may not have the best idea of what I'm talking about.

I'm running windows 7 64bit and to my understanding I have admin privileges rights. I have had some strange issues like this before so I tried using the administrator account named "Administrator" that I believe all win7 copies have as standard even if they are disabled in the startup login window. I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it in the "Administrator" account and it worked!

It doesn't fix the issue back on my main user account but hopefully this will be fixed with the main release of the game.

I am on Windows 7 64-bit as well... but I don't have (or don't see, anywhere) an account named "Administrator." My account is labelled Administrator, of course, without the account name being such.

I'll look into this and see if it helps, but that'd be pretty annoying if I had to keep doing this for the full game in a few weeks.

What I can rule out at this point definitively is any router issue, and I don't think any software I'm running is causing the problem.  The game adds its own exception to Windows Firewall, and I even tried turning it off (which is never a good idea when you also bypass your router), just to see if that would fix things.  It did not.

Maybe it's a Windows 7 64-bit thing since you had the problem too, though...

Hmm. Well when I go to

"Control Panel \\All Control Panel Items \\User Accounts \\Manage Accounts" or

"Control Panel \\User Accounts and Family Safety \\User Accounts \\Manage Accounts"

"Manage another account" button.

(It's the same place) I have two administrator accounts one of which is named "Administrator"

Here's a link that may help.

Let me know if you've found a solution or if I can help.

I'm having a somewhat similar issue, except I am able to login to my account at the main menu. However, after the first battle wave during the "actual" events of the Lothering escape I get a logged out of account message. If I go back to the main menu after the message I'll be prompted to log back in to my account. I am also running win7 64.

my account is admin. i don't know if it is ultimate hidden royal admin, but i think i should be able to log in as easy as in battlenet, steam or other online thingies. so does anybody have a clue why is this happening? what makes it possible to log in via admin account? i don't really care that much about bonus content, i'm just inquisitive and want to know if i'm doing something really stupid :D

Can someone who is having this problem do me a favor?

Run the Dragon Age 2 Configuration Tool, click the System tab, and make sure the "Enable this if you have a dedicated internet connection" option is checked. If that is checked go to the Network button at the bottom under the "System" heading and click the blue link that says "Configure Windows Firewall". Do these two things first, and then tell me what happens.

For the people who have to sign in using an Admin account, the issue is likely something else entirely. For those people, I would recommend that when they are installing, that they are installing to a drive that all users have permission to access. Perhaps change the default install directory too. Also, I think (but I don't really remember) there is an option when installing to "install for all users", if there is make sure this option is checked.

Also, for the Windows 7 64-bit Users, what version are you using? Home, Professional, Ultimate? Do you have SP1 installed? Are your network drivers installed properly?

I am having problems connecting to the server as well. Selecting "Enable this if you have a dedicated internet connection" won't save (it's unchecked every time I go back). And, I can only get onto the server when I directly run DragonAge2Demo.exe as Administrator, and then I can stay logged on long enough to complete the demo and unluck Hayder's Razor. Very Frustrating... I have completed the demo about 8 times already

BTW, Vista 64 Ultimate, SP2

Are you remembering to go to Save Settings before closing the Configuration utility? It won't update it's information without it doing that.

Also, have you tried making these changes on the Admin account and then trying to play the game on your main account?

i use win7 64 ultimate, with all the daily updates installed, including sp from the other day. ''enable this if you have a dedicated internet connection" can be checked, firewall is configured, but still the same thing happens. even if i shut down firewall completely. i even tried it with mirror download and steam download. interesting thing with steam is that i can access steam online and community features in-game, but DA still says "You must be connected to the internet to access online features of the...'' :(

Did you guys try right clicking the shortcut, pin it to the taskbar, then right click the pin and hit run as administrator? I had a similar issue until I did this. Now, no problems.

To get the file menu for pinned items, hold shift when right-clicking it. Not sure why you would need to pin it first though since you could just right-click the file/shortcut on desktop and run as admin

Hmmm. It works fine now for me. The only difference now is that I have the new windows update and I logged in to my Administrator administrator account with out logging off of my main account. (Switch user) I then started the install from the download and cancelled as soon as it started "Verifying installer". That did take longer than normal and I really doubt that it did anything let alone fix something lol but l thought I'd say just in case.
OpDDay2001 I only have one HDD and it's working now on my main account without a reinstall at all nevermind to a new location. I'm running windows 7 64bit professional with the new SP1 installed. I'm not to sure how to tell if my network drives are installed properly but my steam account and other online games work fine.
If I've misunderstood or if you'd like to know more about my system and such let me know.

switched user to my Administrator account and tried again. Got logged in but when I finished the demo, it had logged out. As fun as this demo is, I've completed it at least twice for each character both genders and it's getting a little tired... and still no razor

Can't get it to log in for me.Fully updated Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit. Downloaded via steam, only the one account on my computer (which is the admin account) Enable this if you have a Dedicated Connection checkmarked, firewall configured.

When I try to make a shortcut from the steam library page it doesn't give the run as adimin option. When I make one from the launcher in the Steam Folder it gives the option, when I click it, it launches the launcher, then when I click play it shows a quick Opening Dragon Age II Demo Steam window, then loads up the launcher again. Then when I go tinto the game it still says not connected.

Trying to dl it from the Dragon Age site right now, so maybe that will hopefully work.

Sure hope I will not have this hassle with the final game.

yeah, i also couldn't launch steam version as admin, then just installed normal version, enabled hidden/real/ULTIMATE admin account, made password for it, rightclicked on launcher icon and 'run as different user', logged in as ULTIMATE admin and speedrun through it to get bonus content. speedrun because people said otherwise you get logged off lol

preordered game via steam, hope won't have similar problemes
