It won't be Shepard who will go stealth...

It will be the Normandy :D

In Arrival, we will get to pilot the Normandy, probably getting her to the landing zone without attracting attention ( which, I guess it will be pretty hard). If we fail to do so, most likely we'll be able to pewpew batarian ships :D
Guess those upgrades will come even better now.

P.S. I got this weird idea because last night I dreamt this. >.>

It would give an excuse to make the SR3. It could also be Firewalker esque (keep reading, don't rage yet) in the sense that it will introduce space-combat. That all seems plausible.

Actually, most likely... The giveaways that we'll have space combat ( avoidable via stealth) are the advices EDI gives on the Arrival's new planets' description: "even though Normandy SR2 is not officially marked Alliance, it's close resemblance with Normandy SR1 will make the batarians engage in hostile activities. I suggest using the Normandy's stealth systems" or something like that.

It's kinda clear from that: "you'll fly the Normandy, if you wanna deal with less batarians ships ( not that you wouldnt wanna kill more batarians), turn on the stealth system. You even get an achievement :D"

In this case, yes, it is a perfect excuse to introduce the Normandy SR3. Also, if the Normandy SR2 gets destroyed, that might be the Ultimate Sacrifice. Not only Normandy SR2, but also it's personality: EDI.

I bet my money on EDI makes the ultimate sacrifice :D

I think it is pretty smart that Bioware tests new concepts to the hardcore fans through DLC. I think the OP is pretty spot on - we have never actively used the ship except in Legions mission, and that was only partially. If we have a limited cloak, watch our emissions and use the Normandy's guns, then maybe we'll see the implementation through DLC and ME3.

:-O Legend! I didn't even think of that, but it makes sense. Adding stealth gameplay to the ground combat would be way too hard, so I was dubious initially. Plus it would be too pro-Infiltrator.

The Normandy though...that would be so freakin' awesome.

I thought about this too and I think you may be right. It'd be pretty damn cool to pilot the Normandy. Although if you're right that probably means no stealth section on foot, beause I was looking forward to that as well. Maybe both?

Honestly I doubt it. In ME3, maybe, but the ME2 engine just doesn't so stealth gameplay. The closest it comes to stealth is Kasumi's Shadow Strike, and the Infiltrators tactical cloak.

I wouldn't be surprised by this, especially since LotSB and the mechanics shown there. I'm still hoping for some stealth on foot though :bandit:

Oh btw OP, you might want to post this here. ChrisPriestly already locked a thread due to the topic being similar to the one linked.

And has a fistfight with a reaper/transformer. E.D.I. controlling the Normandy. If you haven't gotten the "Teach Normandy Kung-Fu" upgrade all possible LI's onboard dies.

I find it so entertaining that people think there's gonna be space combat in the game... Not the OP, mind, since what he said might merely be quest-related.

I'm pretty sure the "ultimate sacrifice" is some NPC we first meet in the DLC

Well, if a space combat CAN be avoided... thrust me i will do EVERYTHING WRONG to make it happen, so i can finally see the normandy shooting some ass, not only for 15 seconds like in the SM... :D

If this can be played before SM there's nothing to worry about. If it's only available post-SM though... I'll be sitting on needles for the first playthrough.

There is no way there will be squad member death in a dlc. Its possible they will kill off VS there tho

This does sound very plausible, considering that the DLCs is one of the ways the Bioware team could be using to test new game mechanics. And we'd be expected to fight the Reapers in ME3 where the question of space combat will naturally come into question. (unless Shepard intends to melee every Reaper out there)

Please no on-foot stealth action.

I remember an EGM article from quite a few years ago that was along the lines of "worst video game cliches". Generally stuff like "hero's town gets destroyed, bad guys have exploding barrels in their base" etc.

One of them was forced stealth sequences. Does anyone really want shepard to hang around pillars while waiting for guards to go by? It would be clunky and frustrating to do that in ME2.

Infiltrators will make short work of any stealth levels.

Someone posted a bunch of unearthed files linked to the LotSB and AAP package from the PC version of the game where EDI has a number of advisories about Balak System (which is directly tied to the last few CDN newsfeed about an Alliance patrol tangling with the Batarian Hegemony).

Basically put, it's well within Batarian territory, and will require the SR2 to maintain its stealth systems up. It's why I believe it's very credible that the stealth achievement could very well be regarding ship combat, a taste of what is to come for ME3.

The only thing I'm worried about is that any space flights with the Normandy will just devolve into a Reach style dogfighting scenario. I can get into the idea of the Normandy "ducking" behind moons and having strategic points that would let the ship discharge into a safe gas giant, something that follows the story, but why would the Normandy ever have to fight through a picket line of ships when she can slip in and out of FTL behind almost any moon? Please, God, don't let it be like out of Starwars or Starfox, let it be creative.

I don't like the idea of space combat in general. The ground one had it's issues and porblems with dynamic fights. Howabout making a dlc with actualy interesting (gameplaywise, not pretty) levels that have something more than tons of things you can hide behind and enemies running at you from the oposite direction instead of adding something absolutely new to the whole series and not really needed?
