I'd rather have the reverse. The brother-brother and sister-sister mechanics have always been more interesting to me. Or at least just done better.

Actually, I just tried playing a female mage to play through the demo with Carver, and I like him better. Unforunately, my female mage runs like Paris Hilton after a night on the town and has a snotty stance when still (So do Mom and Bethany. When the 3 of them stand together, it look ridiculous. And a bit like they're all working the same street corner), so...unplayable. I'm very disapponted in this given that DA:O avoided it nicely. If I play a mage, it will have to be a male, I'm afraid.

There's gameplay video out there with a mage cavorting around in something like looks like leather armor.  I think it was the live demo they did a couple of fridays ago, maybe.  As I recall Mike Laidlaw said we'd be able to equip some things other than robes if we were so moved.  (found it: http://www.livestrea...medium=ui-thumb)

I'll make my first playthrough a rogue, & hopefully someone will make a mod that allows you to keep Bethany while a mage, by the time I'm ready to play a mage.

Edit: Bethany is nice girl, but things get boring when you are always with nice person. I prefer Carver because of his somewhat fiery personality and defiant attitude toward Hawke. However, Carver still cares Hawke and his family a lot. You can see that if you right-click him in the field.

Mage = Bethany dies, Rogue/Warrior = Carver dies

This so much. I am sure Bethany is nice, but I would rather have fun butting heads with Carver. With Bethany I feel like the conversations would be just too pleasent. Granted, I haven't seen much of her and there may be a side to her we haven't seen, but for my first run through Carver seems more interesting.

Funny thing is, from the little bit of experience I've had with Bethany and Carver, I prefer Bethany.



So its a win-win for me.

First of all, playing a mage would suck because of the armour and not because of Carver (frankly i have no preference for either sibling).



Second of all, mages stand around doing spells instead of kicking ass melee-style. thus, less action-oriented.



And finally, a rogue is the most awesome class because he has really cool moves. And doesn't die as easily as a THW or a mage

Well, my first playthrough was going to be a rogue anyway, but I may have been persuaded to play a mage if it weren't for losing Bethany/getting Carver. I quite liked Bethany so far, and found Carver annoying.
