I like Bethany and think her design is more eyecatching than Carver's, but I'll still roll a mage for my first playthrough.
And second.
And maybe third.

Win-win for me.

Bethany dies- Carver's all like, "Whatever broseph/brosephine."

Yeah, right-clicking him in the field, was one of the thing i enjoyed in the demo. I just had that feeling of Carver trying to be strong in such desperate situation.Queen-Of-Stuff wrote...
Is Carver really that bad, though? I mean, he seemed a bit grumpy, but considering their situation that's understandable. Whenever I click on him, he says things like "you should catch your breath while you can" and "I'll keep watch if you need to stop for a while". Doesn't seem like things a complete douche would say.

I'm sorry but it will be in the main game as well. Dev said this mechanic served for party balance as well as plot maker.2kgnsiika wrote...
I really hated this mechanic because it takes control away from the player in a patronizing way. It also imposes completely useless limitations on the way you can play the game. BW games are supposed to be about meaningful choices and consequences. I hope it's just a demo thing and in the actual game you get to choose.

Ideally, though, I'll be using Merrill. Unless she doesn't have heal spells.
But I guess I could have two mages. Ehh. I dunno.

Actually I think Ash gets a lot more hate than Kaiden. I personally think Kaiden is the hottest LI that's ever been offered in any Bioware game.

Carver however seems like he'll challenge your decisions, and has that whole "im secretly super jealous of your super powers magic abilties" thing going on. making for a much more interesting relationship.
so i like carver alot more. once i recruit anders or merril bethany is getting benched with my warrior. however on my mage i might keep carver in there the whole time (might just be because im not crazy about fenris lol)

So Bethany dies if you play mage.. Good to know. I think I go back to DA:O while waiting for Witcher 2
If she didn't there would be four mages. You could have a party consisting of all mages! So it's best for party balance really.
So a player could choose to have a less than optimal party composition. We can't have that!!
I like the freedom to choose according to my likes/dislikes and no because of the demands of game mechanics. Sometimes in DA:o you had to pick a party to do a certain task (kill a dragon etc.), but fortunately not very often. I want the right to choose badly.

Let's put it this way. I blame Carver 100% for why it took so long to escape from Ostagar and reach Lothering so late. It's obvious Bethany feels the same way. If one of the siblings has to die, I'll choose the incompetent one.
i like your style!
