"High" settings not selectable

Just downloaded and tried the demo, and I totally love it!
There' just one thing that has me unsatisfied: when I try yo change the Graphic detail level, I can only take it up to "Medium". And this happens whether I use the config utility or the in-game Options menu.
I'm currently playing on a MacBook Pro via BootCamp, and I'm using Win XP SP3 with DX 9.0c. Does anyone know if I actually have to switch to the DX 10 (and, therefore, say bye bye to Xp and "hello" to either Vista or Win7) to play at "High" graphic detail?
Thanks in advance and, please, avoid uber-abused and unfriendly answers like "get a PC" and the likes, thanks!
See you around!

And just an FYI - your graphics card limits your highest Direct X version, not your operating system.

They did say that the demo will be locked at medium graphics settings. So no viewing it at high until the game is out.

Does any one here experience the same thing, or they're just a bunch of lucky guys?
Does anyone know about the Mac version requirements? So far, I've seen only the PC ones.
Thanks again!

High settings do work. I chose the Dx 11 renderer and was then able to select high. I couldn't select very high though as I only have a Dx 10.1 gpu.

HIGH and VERY HIGH settings are ONLY available if you use the DX11 renderer, but VERY HIGH is disabled for the demo.
Also Very High will ONLY work with a DX11 video card in the final game. You can use the DX11 RENDERER with a DX10 card, but not the very high setting.

I came here to look into this and hadn't noticed the Bioware statement on this issue previously
