I really hate when developers take a beloved game and decide to make a sequel that feels like a cheap cashing in of the original.  This is one of those instances.

I mean why would you create a sequel with inferior graphics to the original?  What is the reasoning for that?  Why take a game with strong RPG elements, and make a sequel that plays out more like an action game?  It's like how Paramount tried to make Star Trek cool again by making Kirk a 20-something and skipping all the dialog that makes it a space opera.

When you try to "mainstream" a series that didn't start as mainstream, then you just lose the people who really loved the original; and the mainstream won't touch it, because they relate the sequel to the original game that they never considered playing.

Couldn't you have just made this game and given it a different title, with no lore references to Dragon Age?

If you're not willing to put in the time to make a sequel that lives up to its predecessor (and don't pretend this is an attempt to do just that), then please just move on to a different project.

Honestly! Why don't you just go play a different game?

Best post ever. Don't let the fanboys get you down. They'd worship anything that Bioware released.

This game is a slap in the face to the people who supported the first one.

Get over it ya drama queen, the game isn't even out yet, you got a taste of a 30 minute demo.

That's such a lame excuse.  Do you really think the game is going to come out and suddenly the combat is going to be more like the original?  Or the dialogue is going to not be a summary wheel?

Stop using "It's just a demo" to write off people's complaints ABOUT THE DEMO.

Its as lame as making the statement that if you supported the original you could not possibly like the second.

Stop using "omg Fanboy!!" to write off peoples opinions that do not coincide with yours

It's like the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Origins wasn't broken, but they "fixed" it.... for the worse. I agree with the OP it would have been nice for them to start a new series this "different" from Origins instead of throwing everything that worked well and we loved out the window on this series. I'm not saying I'm going to hate it, and I'm still eager to play - but I don't see any way I could enjoy this as much as Origins with these changes.

By being essentially the same with more fluid combat?

I honestly don't feel anymore "slapped in the face" from this than I did from BG2.

Fluid?  Fluid?

You either don't know what fluid means, or you haven't played the demo.  Its anything but fluid.  It's choppy and cheap.  The animations get interupted to cast spells instead of a natural motion transferring to the spells.

This game is for consoles.  I am solely complaining about the PC which seems like it was an afterthought.

I prefer this to ME's single protagonist approach. Not so happy with some of the design choices though.

It tends to play like most other action RPGs which is probably down to the individual if it's good or bad. At the moment I'm settled on "different". But I could just be playing Trinity in a different "skin".

Never seen anything specific in your QQ post about being slapped in the face. The combat is great, the wheel isn't that bad. Get  over it, if the wheel and the combat looking faster and more entertaining is going to make you not buy the game, then stop whining and leave.

That is the problem with your post, Sabian.

You're stating something as though it's a fact that the game's a slap in the face to everyone who liked Origins. It's not a fact and I'm proof of that. See my post directly below the post I quoted for why.

See, when you state something as an opinion rather than fact, it tends to lend your point a bit more credibility.

In summary, I love people like you.

Do you need to pause much in DA:O at Normal difficulty during the first few levels?

I did. Almost every encounter on Origins has an opportunity to wipe out your party if you don’t play it smart, while the villains in Dragon Age 2 are about as combat effective as communists in a Chuck Norris movie. The interlocking animations are so minimalistic that I don’t feel like my character is reacting to his opponent at all.

Exactly.  A lot of these people complaining about others not liking the game are console players.  They're used to these types of games.  Hell the original Origins on console was closer to what 2 is.

Origins PC to DA2 PC is a much larger difference than Origins Console to DA2 console.

This.  Why is it that people who support the changes and like it are automatically "fanboys" and not real fans of the first game?  And, really, doesn't anybody play these games for the RPG aspect of it?  All I hear are crying about graphics and combat.  Doesn't anyone play for the story/characters?   That is what I'm most excited about.  I'm an RPG fan.  I like to role-play.  Call me crazy but the changes in DA2 don't seem so severe that won't be able to enjoy the game for what it is.  An RPG.

Really? You could easily solo the game on the hardest difficulty setting as a Arcane Warrior.

I must be AWESOME then, as i played the original on normal on xbox360 and i very rarely had to pause and use tactics, only during boss battles. I guess i am just better then you?

No....no they're not.  There's no action wheel on the PC like there is on consoles.

PC being the platform I played the game on, yes. I'd say more fluid. Especially for an older build. And contrasted by plaing DA:O on the sides. I was talking about the feel of combat, I don't particulary notice animations. As a whole, through, more fluid.

Actually having to hit with fireballs rather than having them as heat-seeking missiles of doom.
