Is there any way to stop squadmates behaving like lemmings?

Oh yeah that I can definitely understand. The post said "squad cryo" though. This can only refer to the ammo power

Wait, does not compute. Are you modding powers, how are you using biotics?

Have. It's dead easy to add a few extra bonus powers.
Vanguard has it naturally, though. I can't stand it then, either.
But, for a while everyone was gushing on squad cryo ammo. So, made a key-bind and added to my adept's power list. Meh. Even on Insanity, the squad just took a dump on my parade.
Same when I would use it on Infiltrator. Nothing like a buzz-kill from a popsicle falling down just before you were about to OSOK it.
At this point I'm just happier to gimp my squadies; use them as drones when necessary, but for the most part leave them behind. Either they're dolt's with shotguns that can't hit anything but the crate they're hiding behind, or they're standing up like Rambo in the pond with his machine gun...only they get killed. Either way, the only thing they're good for is extra power or abillity casts when I want to have fun.
Lately I've found that letting them strip some defenses then ordering them to a corner is more fun. I can then practice multiple pull casts to place targets in some odd locations and watch what the ai does. Mostly they die, but some stuff is funny.

I couldn't really understand why people were so crazy about Cryo Ammo. Tried it myself and saw that it fit my playstyle very well as an infiltrator. I mix sniping and CQC.
I use sniping mainly to one-shot the weaker enemies early in the fight, so no problems with people freezing and falling down there. For CQC purposes it's quite brilliant.
I'm just saying that it works just fine for me.

^+1 Cryo Ammo & sniping don't really mix. Sniper-heavy builds should generally avoid Cryo powers and look for other cc solutions. Neural Shock, Overload and Pull are good alternatives.

The Viper and Cryo mix like milk and chocolate - and I love me some chocolate milk!

Like I said, Squad Cryo doesn't have to ruin your sniping unless you are on lower difficulties where things will get frozen right away. Then it can of course really mess with your aim. On higher difficulties sniping is all about taking out targets WITH defenses. For me anyway. I aim to one-shot weak targets and move in to mop up. If they don't die but get frozen, it's already a waste for me to shoot them with the Widow anyway.
