I've had 3 different graphics cards put in since my family bought the computer 5 or so years ago, and I've never had any problems. This latest one isn't that old either.

a. Open your computer if you're confident in doing that. Make sure there's no dust, check to see the fans are working properly.
b. If it's a fanless card, make sure there's no dust and the other fans are working and that there's a free intake of air where there once must have been.
If you do reinstall anyway; have a look in your my documents/documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/Characters folder, that's the folder you need to save, your saves are there.

That said, the Dimension 8400 isn't an over-clocking setup and that means it's time to buy a new rig.

Seeing as I haven't really gotten a fix because of some person that decided to hijack the thread with a few pointless, retarded, and derailing comments, can anyone tell me if keeping my saves when I uninstall (as it gives the option to) will keep the same graphical issues? I'm sick, I want to play, and I don't want to sit here and watch a progress bar fill up for 30+ minutes if I'm not going to see any helping results.

Yeah, sorry the lyrical allusion was over your head. Also sorry that this crud forum triple posted said allusion. Twas meant to infuse some humor in an otherwise uptight thread.
Your save game should not retain issues of a graphical nature. Any further graphics issues will either be a reslt of: a) problems with your system, b)inherent bugs with the game. A reinstall will only fix a bad install on your system not already present issues.
As for the long install. A 15 Gb install with 11472 files 224 folders will always take time to install. Just saying.

Automatically assuming that my computer is a giant pile of dung, that it's impossible that it still runs games, it probably can't do this, that, etc. is stupid. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. I don't like it when you "know" that my computer can't live past 3 years. When Crysis first came out, everyone talked about how only top-of-the-line PCs could run the game. I ran it perfectly fine. I can type 90+ words a minute, and I use to type peoples papers for them for money. Does that mean I'm an expert at typing, Word, and everything that has to do with linguistics? No. You're a certified Dell Technician. Grats.
Btw, um...metradon111111111111, I wasn't talking to you with the whole derailing comment thingy.
Sorry if I'm being rude. Just...yeah. Thanks again y'all.
EDIT: Not sure if this makes any difference, but I do have 3 hard drives. I have a C:/ (standard, obviously) and an F:/ inside the compy, and an external Seagate sitting by it's lonesome next to me. Game is installed on the F:/ drive, which is also the newest.

Just cracked the case and checked out it's innards. Nasty stuff. I obviously need to clean it out more. I cleaned it as best I could before reattaching the card. Got everything put back together, but now the game is saying PhysXloader.dll wasn't found. Just downloaded it and I'm going to try it again.

Crysis is hardly the standard for anything but poor engine coding. Your final edit is actually interesting, because it's possible if you're getting data interrupts (along with the horrible heat inside) that it might create the odd combo of effects. And I didn't say that your computer couldn't live past 3 years, but rather that they're designed to need to be replaced about that often, especially as a gamer.
I've worked on your particular model of computer many times and they're horribly dusty and hot. Your new GPU is also warmer than the original model that came with the computer and that adds to your overall temperature.
Further, according to the game box and the "usually reliable" online resources neither your processor or mine are supported, so while we've been trying to help you the official answer is "upgrade to meet the minimum requirements." With all that said, you'd probably find your gaming experience to be improved by getting a new PC...

I notice these bad blips and I am afraid the game might crash or something. I think it even effects the gameplay like I had Sten get stuck on something for a boss fight and died cuz he just stood there cuz of a odd...glitch?
Good games aren't perfect and never should be. DRAGON AGE ORIGIN'S has issues but I still like it.

I ran the event logger from the Nvidia Monitor. I lasted 29 minutes on a trip from my camp (in which I ran into a group of 15 darkspawn, myself, and a group of 3 mage NPCs) to Denerim. I walked around awhile, shopped, got the flashing black screen that I always get, etc. Around 18:16, I got the dreaded geometric patterns. Looking at them shooting out of EVERYONE but me, it seems some of them are texture patterns. I saw an ear, Morrigan's necklace, the Hound's fur, etc. Here's the report (lots of text): EDIT: Having trouble getting this to post correctly. Hold on.
interesting, where is the graphics card placed on the back of the case? up top or toward the bottom of the slots?

I'm thinking your right. I do apologize for being rude earlier. Probably just going to have to get a new computer. Hell yes!

It's placed up top. It looks like I'm not going to be able to post the log, but my computer seems to be operating at a temperature of 130 F when I'm not playing, 170+ F during combat (during which I have no problems), and 150-160 F otherwise. At the minute I hit the problem, the computer was at a literal constant of 167 F. Purty darn sure that's not good.

It's all good, no blood- no foul. If you like Dell (or have one of their accounts for credit purposes) the Alienware systems are MUCH better than the standard Dell units for gaming. The prices are bit higher than you'd pay for doing it yourself but at least you won't find a knock-off component in an Alienware model.
