So basically you are saying, "most people are jerks, so I'd prefer humanity goes extinct"?

You sound like you'd rather join the reapers as long as they'd agree to spare you and your family. I don't think Mass Effect is that kind of game.

It's why Shepard is the hero and not us. Most of us are self-absorbed nitwits. If the Reapers actually came, we'd wet our pants and throw the whole world under the bus if it meant saving ourselves.

Plus, there could also be a major Renegade option to 'Not Save Earth', being selfish and that kind of stuff...

Me? No, I as a player I want to save the whole Galaxy as it's cooler.

My Shepard? She doesn't like the role she ended up with but saving the Galaxy is her duty now; whether she wants it or not is kinda irrelevant at this point. My Shep's goal is to save the Galaxy and defeat the Reapers. The Galaxy includes Earth as well as any other habitable planet. Sure my Shepard would do her best and won't choose the second option if presented with some kind of herp derp "save Earth or doom Earth for teh lulz" choice, but something like "Earth vs the rest of the Galaxy" would be the end of the homeplanet in my playthrough.

If the entire ME trilogy culminates into a single planet being assaulted and requires the entire ME3 to save it...I will be hugely, vastly disappointed...and probably leave Earth the burn in spite by that stage.

Why would the game be all about that?
It's probably in the end of the game you need to go to Earth and help...
But i think that you can go to Earth earlier before the attack starts, that would be awesome

I hope you're right and I am wrong...

That EA release didn't get my hopes up...the one that said about uniting the races to launch one final mission to take back Earth...Don't get me wrong - I don't mind if its the end game after fighting the Reapers all over the galaxy etc..but if the entire game is based around collecting alien fleets to save Earth....I think they'll be throwing away a massive opportunity to create one of the most epic finales of all time.

I understand you...
But in Mass Effect 2, the entire game was based on collecting aliens fleets to stop the Collectors, i hope they won't do that again.. I rather doubt that ^_^

Hey you're right! It wouldn't make sense for them to make the exact same collection style game twice in a row!.. WOO! You've ignited a spark of hope! Cheers! Now I can resume another ME2 run without wondering every few seconds if I'm doing this all for very little.

Renegade Shep is actually far more human-centric than Paragon Shep. Paragon Shep all about the galactic community and the Council; Renegade Shep is all rah rah Cerberus.  Paragon Shep would be the one to sacrifice the Earth, which is why Paragon Shep is ******. Posted Image

Your logic..brain..my head...ouch.

Seriously though...that was a pretty convincing argument. It sounds like something Lord Helmet would say! So that scores it bonus points! :D

I believe BioWare will do something we have never seen before in ANY videogame that will stun every Mass Effect fan and have a powerful end and therefore, GOTY.. :D

eh?

Logic is simple.

Renegade Shep in ME1 bashes aliens, talks about how humanity stands alone, and lets the Council die to be replaced with a human Council. Renegade Shep in ME2 likes Cerberus (a pro-human organization) and even gives them the Collector Base to make humanity stronger.

Renegade Shepard is all about a strong, independent humanity because they cannot rely on the aliens.

Paragon Shep is all about how the galactic community has to take care of everyone, not just humanity. They stress collobration. They risk human lives to save the Council. In ME2, Paragon Shep hates the human-centric Cerberus and screws them over in the end.

So if it came down to saving humanity at the cost of more alien carnage, Renegade Shep would throw the aliens under the bus in a second. Paragon Shep, meanwhile, would let the Earth burn for the good of the galactic community. Paragon Shep is a sellout. Posted Image

No, I liked your post. I agreed with the logic. It was just worded awesomely like Lord Helmet would say it.

That is a good thing.

Humans already have lots of colonies, and if those aren't attacked, I don't see sacrificing Earth to be that much of a problem to the existance of the human race.

I agree completely... But it doesn't sound right that by hitting Paragon button you would let Earth burn

Wow we have some bitter people up in here. We saw/saved the galaxy twice and now people don't seem to care about what could happen to the Earth even though if every human on Earth was killed humanity would be boned like the Quarians?

I am amused.

LOL, oh please have you forgotten how "fertile" and virsatile our race is?

Now this has nothing to do with letting the galaxy suffer.  I'd far sooner save the Asari homeworld than plant Earth.  You guys know why and i'm just being honest with myself.  I'd save the Krogan homeworld because they are bluntly honest.  I'd save the Salarians just because the doctor sang AND they have THE best skills with numbers.  etc., etc.  But Earth?  no,...no no no and no.  Heck the Citadel at least had a variety of culture from different races mixed in there and I doubt earth is "alien" friendly...do you want me to point out the United States laws on "aliens"?  No, earth ain't a friendly place compared to the citadel who already had millenium of experience with other aliens.  Plus yeah, the majority of people on Earth would be jerks in one form or another.

I agree!!
The Asari welcomed humans and allowed them to stay, The Citidel, and i doubt that any other race would not welcome humans to their homeworld. But it would be the opposite if aliens visited Earth....

LOL!  I'm sorry, but do you think that people/aliens have not already smuggled a nice portion of Earths "ecosystem" into other colonies and planets?

No, whatever is left on earth are likely trolls.:o

Mm, unwise, OP. You're going to save everyone but the crazy people? You'd need to leave yourself behind to die, as well.

I don't know, I think that's a pretty self-destructive plan. I have a better plan: I'm going to save everyone but the misanthropes.

Actually, upon reflection you can see how in both of our plans you're kind of screwed. Maybe we should rethink this.

Now to clarify before I say anything.  I don't expect this to end in bickering or ranting or mudslinging.  I am just saying what is on my mind...now.

So, to end crazy people I would need to take myself out as well.  So you are saying my self sacrife is good or bad for humanity?  I'd possibly do it if it meant the end of trollers like those who sue for hot coffee or hot nachos.  So yeah, still sticking with not wanting to save Earth, you just made it a little heroic in doing so, thank you.

P.S.  My heroic speech, "I will sacrfice myself to make sure certain crazy people no longer breed.."

I hope there is a choice to make to either save earth and have huge losses (with the possibility to fail in the end) or sacrifice earth and fight elsewhere. Would be a nice and though choice I am willing to make.
