I feel like they look better overall. More like the Disciples of Awakening... who were awesome.

Its subjective, but their awkward jerky animations really lend themselves to dancing. One image I cant get out of my mind is the part of the demo when the main character is talking to her family as he/she leaves Lothering. There is a point where it flashes back to the flames and the darkspawn are nearly dancing away behind the flames trying to get to the main character.Which I find to be an unbelievable scene as it is, but that is off topic.

I liked the old look better but the spell casters do look good, I don't like the corpse fiend look though, and the armor I think doesn't look as good.

I'm not a big fan of the new Darkspawn, but I can live with it.

I like them because they fit into the kind of semi-cartoon aesthetic that the game has and look suitably twisted. I also like the implication that Ogres are actually corrupted Qunari based on their new look. (I'll have to dig through codices to see if this is actually true.) :)

I too embrace our new darkspawn overlords. :D

At anthro-

They are. Specific darkspawn are created through different broodmothers. The type of darkspawn is determined by the original race of the broodmother.

How many of these post are there going to be?

to the OP - One search would have pulled up 4 to 5 of these same threads that you could have commented in. Stop opening new threads and use the existing ones!! Jeeze these boards are annoying, I wish they never released a demo.

I do hope we won't be fighting to many of these new darkspawn....But the fact that they were redesigned say we will.

Another person creating an account just to troll?

I think yes, but lets wait and watch.

My final post-

To anyone complaining about me making another thread: I checked the last 4 pages and didnt see a thread.

To the person above me: Check my account date. 2009. Yep. Just because this if my first time actually choosing to post about a legitimate issue I see does not automatically throw me into the trolling camp.

I don't mind the new design. I just hate the armor that they wear, it looks ridiculous. Emissaries look good though.

The BDF assumes that anyone that doesn't immediatly love whatever bioware does is a troll. Essentially if you have a concern or an opinion that's negative, you're a troll to them.

The original darkspawn weren't anything special, but the new ones aren't cool enough to justify changing.

Also, they should have kept the hurlock's grin.

I don't think she's a troll, she's entitled to her oppinion. I just wasn't sold on the whole childish dancing skeltor thing.

I personally dislike the new darkspawn look, they don't look as creepy as they did in DAO. Oh well.

I don't mind the new look, it seems to reflect what they are more than what we had in DA:O (where they looked like orcs). The way the move is making me laugh tho, they could use a new run animation as could Lady Hawke. Ah well

They are better dancers.

I'm surprised no one brought up the Putty Patrol in this thread yet.

I like the new dark spawn's overall design... I just wish they were more muscled. The skinny goth look doesn't look as threatening.

I'm not gonna lie, that little crab-walk they do before they attack is 2 parts adorable and 3 parts funny, but other than that I'm ok with their change.

Also, we've known about this for god knows how many months now, what's with the resurgence in old pointless threads?

Of course that has to be what I did.....

It couldn't have the many threads before about this very subject, or the fact the OP has no games on her profile.

To the OP I'm sorry if i offended, but if you check my post I wasen't shure yet about what you were planning to accomplish. I saw that those were your only posts and it looked suspect.

*edit for missing words heh

I like the new look and style. The Emissary in particular. I think the change is a bit jarring but it cements and further gives DA2 it's own real identity graphically. DA:O was awesome so I mean no disrespect to it but the graphics for it just felt like recycled and updated BG2 engine stuff - no unique "style" to it.

One word describes the new look: Skeletor.

I hate the new look for the darkspawn. They went from being a very nightmarish look to just looking like a bunch of skeletors dancing around on the screen. Is this a preview of what is to come in the final product? A toning down of the mature rated content in the game?

One of my favorite parts in DAO is what I consider one of the most disturbing non-horror genre levels in a video game; the entire level containing the broodmother and that greatly disturbing poem (Forgive me I forgot the name of the area). I was hoping bioware would continue the darker, mature path.

How is a monster design mature or immature?  Sure the new hurlocks look plain silly, especially with their hoppity hop wicked witch flying monkey walk, but the old ones were kinda goofy too. The constant Joker smile stands out.  They looked like really happy retards.  They should have left them the same, but take away the retard grins.  But, alas, their art depart is sadly inept and needs to be fired.

I do prefer the look of the previous darkspawn in DA:O. The darkspawn looks...dare I say it...creepier? Maybe that's the point. I do like the way the Ogres look though, better than the previous game.
