The first time I saw the screenshots I wasn't convinved regarding the Hurlocks, but seeing them in action changed that. I actually like them more than the original now.

Still not a fan of the Ogre though, although I can see why they did what they did regarding its redesign (it's the face that bothers me). The emissaries are nice, although I really liked the old ones too, but I'm alright with this one.

I think the reason why they look less scary is because they're less fleshy. They don't give you that feeling of sheer brutality, of superior life against which resistance is vain ; instead, they look like death itself now, which is a very different kind of horror.

I think that even if a change was needed, they went in the wrong direction.

Yeeeah. It certainly didn't look that clean to me. Besides we've only seen maybe 10 percent of the game.

Let me put it in another way.  Look at the skin textures of the Dark spawns.  Look at the skin textures of the old dark spawns.

Look at the grounds of the DAO, look at the grounds of DA2.

DA2 is Shiny and plastic, as if has just been washed and waxed by a cleaning crew.

Even the blood is shinny and new.

Its not just that, it almost looks like its all placeholder textures or missing textures. why is everything so smooth? why are the environments so sparse? the gore and "blood" might be there, but the game is very clean.

I do prefer the genlocks and the hurlocks from Origins but I do think the new Ogres are scary. But they do look like skeletor.
