Now as an example, in origins I would usually do 2 magic/1 willpower for a mage but given the long cooldowns and what seems to be a non-issue with mana, I will be investing 3 points into magic for my mage to maximise power...I think for the rogue a 2 dexterity/1 cunning will be a good policy, 2H warrior 3 strength...Sword and board, 2 strength/1 constitution or (for tanks) 2 consitution/1 strength...
Basically, purely based on the demo, I see no use for willpower.
Can't wait to play my succubus lesbo blood mage! Muhahahha

Since Rogues now have the magic of teleportation, maybe this is it? HahaiOnlySignIn wrote...

It's hiding in stealth mode, waiting for it's chance to strike.

To my understanding, blood magic was precisely the province of communing with demons and relying on them for power; did I miss something?

Excellent work getting all the mages grouped together Chris, the trap worked flawlessly! I've notified the Templars and their troops are marching here as we speak. Finally, we can restore order to Kirkwall!
That will be rather hard to do while you're being electrocuted.

Blood Mage: Nothing inspires as much wild-eyed terror as the Blood Mage. Mages of this type take the raw energy of life and twist it to their own purposes. They can corrupt and control, and sustain their power by consuming the health of others, willing or not. The effects can be vile, but this specialization isn’t limited to madmen and monsters. Many see it as the only form of magic that is truly free, because it’s tied to the physical, not favors to spirits or demons. It remains an undeniably violent and self-destructive discipline, however, and the Blood Mage must be careful. The temptation to take just a little more is always there.

Demons can teach mages how to use blood magic, but the magic itself does not rely on them.

However, Dragon Age 2 has changed my opinion. As usual, I first played through with a warrior and had a great time, but along the way I would take over one of the party NPC mages (Merrill, Bethany, etc) and use them when needed in battle (or when my warrior died). They were much more fun to play than I was expecting. Sure, you can still rely on your party mahges for healing or support, etc but actually being the mage, selecting what spells I wanted, not to mention the much better mage outfits in DA2 made them a much more enjoyable experience than I was expecting.
Don't get me wrong, I still loves me my 2 handed berzerker warrior, but mages kick a lot of buttock in DA2. They also set them on fire, freeze them in place, rip them apart, etc.

They often do that but they mostly rely on BLOOD magic
