Based on occasional lurking around here, it seems like a lot of the people here are very much old school RPG fans. Because of this, the perception seems to be that the new Dragon Age will be terrible simply because it will be faster paced, leading people to assume that it will be a dumbed down hack and slasher. The thing is, I wish that were the case. I would love it if Dragon Age 2 became to God of War what Mass Effect 2 was to Gears of War, an action game with RPG elements. Really though, the only difference me, "a slack jawed console moron who loves teh haloz and started playing BioWare games on consoles when KOTOR was released" can see is that the combat system they tried to implement in Origins actually works.
TL;DR - This isn't a dumbed down casual God of War clone, but I wish it was.
Does anyone WANT Dragon Age to be more action oriented?

No.
That said however, the changes wasn't made to appeal to us.

I would like a happy medium between the tactical RPG action we saw in DA:O and something like God of War. I think DA2, from what I've played, seems to strike it.
I'm a crazy Bioware-hating console meathead who hates CRPGs and wants them all to die though. Or at least that's what I've been told.

I want it to be a good game with a story that will push me to continue playing. I'm getting the impression that it will be though people shouldn't just base it on the demo alone (Honestly it did feel specifically to be a combat demonstration, but then again you don't want to risk spoiling the story or narative).
As long as it is fun to play in the end, that is what matters.

As long as it's fun and the story keeps the Bioware quality I don't care what I play.

Saying something like "If I wanted X, I'd play X." is a silly argument that can be made for any side. You can just as easily say "If I wanted DAO, I would play DAO." or "If I wanted BG2, I'd play BG2." There is nothing wrong with games borrowing elements from each other, and it does not make them any less unique. DAO has elements from BG, but it doesn't make it BG. Mass Effect (both of them) borrow elements from Gears of War, but it's not at all Gears of War. I personally enjoy the turn-based-RPG aspects and options, but am glad they improve the responsiveness of the game... while still keeping those RPG elements I love.

I certainly wouldn't mind as long as the storytelling was intact. So far, to me at least, it seems to be. The demo actually made me MORE excited for the full game.

Yes. Initially, I was expecting DAO to be an improvement on the twitch based combat in Jade Empire. Imagine my disappointment to learn otherwise.

Not really, no. I liked the measured tactical combat mechanics. I am pleased that they created smoother more interesting animations, though.

No. I want it to be more of an RPG. Mass effect 1 felt like an RPG with guns in space. Mass effect 2 felt like a shooter with rpg elements. I don't want dragon age to become an action game with rpg elements.

I don't mind the new pace. Sometimes combat in DA could drag because of the long animations, especially as a 2h user. The new combat is more immediate. Being able to dodge in real time as rogue for example.
It's nothing new though. I'd just played Trinity and for a while It was like playing the same game just with a different skin.
Aside from being faster and not having a hidden clock to regulate attacks I don't see anything fundamentally different. The new spawn are much more jarring than the combat system.

you know, i would prefere to have the best of both worlds, ME is one of Biowares biggest IPs and if you ask me it was a better game than origins in many ways, just because something is intense and engaging doesn't mean it has been dummed down, Origins was far to slow for my taste i liked the depth of combat but the pacing was unbearable.
