Does anyone WANT Dragon Age to be more action oriented?

I've been a PC gamer since Baldur's Gate. I prefer ME2 to ME1 (or BG2) and DA2 (as far as I can tell) to DAO. However, I'm not afraid of change. I prefer games to evolve and deliver new experiences instead of hanging on to old features because some people are attached to them. While different people have their preferences, to divide then into PC vs Console players is silly.

I want more lore. More codex entries. More great story than action for sure.

Well yes... but not in a way people would think. I would like something like Assassin's Creed meets Fight Night Championship. I don't want tons of enemies to fight and kill. What I would like is more difficult enemies that take actual skill to defeat. Not just button presses or commands. I feel it could make fights more cinematic and engagements with your entire party more interesting. Instead of having them mob one person they would fan out and deal with the threats they are assigned to engage. Like tell Varric to deal with archers, Fenris to handle the two incoming guards, Merril go toe-to-toe with their spellslinger, and leave you to deal with their leader.
But I doubt I'll ever get a game like that short of making it myself.

If I wanted to play Final Fantasy I would play Final Fantasy.
If I wanted to play God of War I would play God of War.
This.
Also Action > story. Bioware's story (sans KOTOR) have been really bad.

The more action the better. The more skill involved in battle the better. I love RPGs and I hate slow combat. DA2 is way better than origins. And I loved ME2, my favorite single player game of all time.
Do you play on consoles? While I could mean that in a derogatory way I don't actually, I'm more interested. I feel like console gamers are more likely to prefer the ME2, instant gratification, action oriented kind of combat.
I think the PC gamers are more likely to prefer old school combat options. Obviously I don't think platform and combat preference are set in stone, but I predict there is a correlation.
And even BioWare games alone...to say ME2 was better Baldur's Gate 2? I'd say that says it all right there.
You realize that the shooter genre got its start on PC right? Acting like PC gamers all like slow combat is luaghable. PC gamers have just as varied a pallate as console gamers, but the most popular games on BOTH happen to be action/shooter games.
As far as people saying they like ME2 over BG 2 and that making them console player, wouldnt said people have to have been at one point PC gamers to have played BG 2? Saying you like one over the other proves nothing on your preference since BG 2 was PC only so either you were at one point a pc gamer or you still ar if you have played that game. Anyways, I have played both and ME2 was better to me, not sure why you seem to be freaking out as if it some sort of impossibility to have played BG 2 and not have it be your favorite game of all time (3rd favorite for me

You're not alone. I don't mind action, but when it's so excessive that it actually starts getting boring, then I think they need to change it up a bit.

My perception from the Dragon Age II demo, is that Bioware wants to experiment in action rpg genre. Mass effect has that feel, have not played through two yet, but I assume it's the same. Origins retained many elements of the Baldur's Gate series. However, it felt drifting slowly towards the action rpg spectrum. The combat was quick, but not a rush. Moments you had to really plan and think through what spells/abilities to use. Examining the trees in Dragon Age II, it looks condensed, you wont have a toolbar filled to the brim. You'll probably only need four to five abilities/spells per fight.
Does this mean your experience will be tarnish? No, I do not think so. I'm quite sure there will be plenty of tactical moments. It wont boil down to a simple hack n' slash game. The pace will be faster, the abilities condensed, but will it ultimately lose it's immersion? I can't comment on that yet, until I play through the full product.
