A side note to all the ladies out there, I am a really nice guy
Tho
i do know what everyone was saying at the beginning of this topic, nice
guys do finish last. Women see me more as a friend because I am always
there for themSucks, but ah well
It's the same for girls trust me
Well, here is an advice if you would like to stop being just a friend, just ake your courage like Alistair and say some sweet stuffs in important moments and don't just stand by her side by being supporting her. You don't have to delcare your love immediatly, no she will probably run away or if you're fortunate she will respond to your feelings or remain your friend.
Heh my husband is a REALLY nice guy, and he's never ever been whithout a girlfriend since he was 16. How does he does it? Well he's just funny, smart and confident but not arrogant. He knows his worth but he has huge respect for others and especially women, I'd say he just really enjoys our company.
That's actually advice for everyone not just nice guys trying to get a girl, believe in who you are but keep in mind everyone deserves respect (unless they prove otherwise..). Smile and be friendly.

The 'NIce' guy does not have to be the push over guy. I have yet to meet a women who wants someone that rolls over all the time and wont stand up for themsleves.
There is a way to be both the nice guy and the confident guy the gentleman and the rebel. The guy who opens the door for everyone yet demands respect for himself and who ever he is with.
Be your own man and there will be women who dig it.
I do believe however that women are truely afraid of what they think they want. Getting what you want is scarry when it comes with commitment and the potential for geting hurt. Some people will go with relationships they know are doomed from the start simply becasue they expect the outcome and are not suprised when it goes wrong.
I also think the "bad' guys wreck potential relationships for us good guys. These type of guys hurt women alot and over again. They mess with womens heads so much that when you meet these women they are hurting. They are not sure they can trust you and become scared.
I know some of these things because I have a very attaractive sister whom I adore. She gets hit on all the time and flat out lied to by some of these guys. Fortunatley she is in a relationship with a very nice guy. However she wishes he would be more assertive and stand up for himself.
Anyway enjoying the game so far.

Very true I was one of these girls. Could never get a nice guy to actually go on a date because I am told they found me too intimidating.... Truth I am a big sweet heart but I am very straight forward with guys... I am told guys like this but in my experience they just run away, then come back a few years later and tell me how much they liked me but were weren't sure what to make of me... So here's another piece of advice, just go for it don't fear excitement, sheesh.
Anyway what I mean to say is the type of guy who I succeeded in dating were manipulative womanizing asses... I became very depressed for a few years and then finally met someone who was both sweet and actually enjoyed my being direct.
Do not ever let people mistreat you because you think there's no one out there, it's not worth the misery.

He's also adorable with his innocence and somewhat of an idle mind at times, he's far by the character that stands out the most in the game for me and I am rarely able to go in a party without dragging him along with me.
I think that's what Bioware aimed for as well, him being built to be a tank and all, they were able to flesh him out quite a lot because they knew people would end up taking him with them.

and i played through as a guy first, think my game bugged cause i was able to tell morrigan and leliana that i chose them, so i had both going simultaniously
and im now playing through as a female, and yes, alistair is hilarious as a boyfriend. i just like to see every side of a game, so im trying to play through as many different ways as possible, and yes, that includes rolling female and harumping the templar.

I'm actually toying with the idea of rolling a male character just to see what Morrigan is like as a romance option, though I usually prefer to play as only females.
I'll play a female char just to get some lesbic action.

I find him overly whiny. I also think his wit is of the annoying kind. Wit in form of sarcastic complaints. TBH sarcasm is the easiest form of wit. I was more amused by other character's banter. I pursued romance with him for sake of achievement, as I was playing a female character, but the nauseating dialog had me grinding teeth due to all the cloying and self-pity.mynameisdanza wrote...

Awww.... Fair enough. It's interesting to see what guys think of him. He seemed like someone who would appeal to everyone, but I was never sure.
He is also not very bright.

Well first of all, no I'm not 12. There's no reason to ridicule the rest of us who adore the writing / acting / fun of a character. Alistair is the typical knight in shining armor with an adorable childish sense of humor. To me, he's an example of someone I'd totally fall head over heels for, and enjoying the wonderful game experiences isn't weird or bad in my opinion. It's like hearing a heroic story of the knight saving the princess from a tower. Then some of us grow up wanting to find that brave knight. It may be unrealistic to some, but for me it's a show of enjoying the beautiful possibilities in life; rather than just growing bitter or becoming so 'realistic' you can't enjoy a bit of fantasy. This is all my opinion of course.
Also, I don't see how just because this is a game it's so silly to accept that some people may have a crush on this sort of person. This is no different than movies, books, T.V. shows. Actors do the exact same thing that a character does in a game; they represent an idea of a person.
Though anyhow!
-Vague Spoiler-
A lot of people I've read get so frustrated over the Morrigan thing (not going to go into it because of spoilers). I didn't get upset at this at all. (Keeping this very vague.) Alistair didn't seem to enjoy it at all. He kept backing away and looking grossed out. I also agreed with Morrigan's intentions. She wanted to save something very immense, rather than destroy it.
-End of vague spoiler-
That's how I looked at it at least, and it didn't bother me at all.
