We are until the first girl breaks our hearts in grade school. Blame yourselves. :innocent:

Awww.... Fair enough.  It's interesting to see what guys think of him.  He seemed like someone who would appeal to everyone, but I was never sure.

I find him overly whiny. I also think his wit is of the annoying kind. Wit in form of sarcastic complaints. TBH sarcasm is the easiest form of wit. I was more amused by other character's banter. I pursued romance with him for sake of achievement, as I was playing a female character, but the nauseating dialog had me grinding teeth due to all the cloying and self-pity.

He is also not very bright.

I really enjoy hearing opposing opinions on Alistair.  I think that's a fantastic point on how sarcasm is the easit for of wit.  I have to admit the dialogue was pretty cheesy, but ugh I just can't help loving it!

-Vague Spoiler-

A lot of people I've read get so frustrated over the Morrigan thing (not going to go into it because of spoilers).  I didn't get upset at this at all.  (Keeping this very vague.)  Alistair didn't seem to enjoy it at all.  He kept backing away and looking grossed out.  I also agreed with Morrigan's intentions.  She wanted to save something very immense, rather than destroy it.

-End of vague spoiler-

That's how I looked at it at least, and it didn't bother me at all.

*Spolier to a degree as well*

Depends on what you believe her real intentions are.  You could make an argument one way or the other as to what she is actually trying to save and what her real motivation is for making such an offer.  Least that's what I gathered when she spoke to me about it.  Not sure how different the conversation goes pending on whether you reach that part as a male or female.  I would think it differs to a degree considering the option obviously can't be suggested towards you if you're female.

He kinda reminds me of a male version of Ashley Williams from Mass Effect. I hated both characters at first, but over time they grow on you in a big way.

-Spoiler Alert: very vague-

Yeah that's a very good point.  It's pretty easy to shift the intentions one way or another.  She seemed incredibly sincere in my conversation with her.  I felt more like I was helping her save something than she was trying to help me.

-End of spoiler-

some of us are.. however, we've found the women in our lives to be like Morrigan...

Too bad most women want what they call dreamy, to be 'just friends' most of the time afraid to lose the witty banter...:huh:

*Spoiler as well meh...sorry but it is*

See, I took it the opposite way.  No matter how you talk to her and get her see things to an extent in a different light at the end of the day there are still some absolutes for her that trump anything including love.  One of which is power whether it be for your personal gain or hers.  When you consider the coversation you have with Flemeth and how Morrigan feels about potential decisions one can make along the way it always leads back to this.  It isn't that she's incapable of emotion, it's just as much as she does feel at times to her it's more of a hindrance rather than something to relish in as most others would.  So when the opportunity arises for her to obtain something such as what this story presents it's just too much for her to pass up regardless the outcome.  Not to mention since the plan wasn't originally her design and a certain tome she has for bed side reading I would imagine she knows more about the outcome of the decision than she lets on.  Besides, considering how her option allows for no one else to make a certain choice I'm sure to her it's a decision where everyone comes out ahead in the end.

I've tried giving that rat bastard gifts, and he never likes them. His irritation at my decisions is getting a bit . . . old. Funny only goes so far.

I'm near the end of the game now and I detest alistair. I would have taken him out of my party if I had a replacement tank. *very vague Spoilers*

EVERY TIME I turn around he gets upset at something I do, even when it is clearly the best decision. Despite showering him with gifts he is still only neutral.

His behavior near end game gets very pathetic and whiny. 'I don't want to do this, I don't want to do that!' Well how about this instead alistair? 'I don't want to do that either!'

Hey Morigan has this great idea alistair, how about it? 'Waahhh I don't wanna!'

I swear I want to slap him upside the head, he's a complete idiot. He's obviously not intelligent, and can only express himself through whining and sarcasm.

My female character pursed Zevram. He's far nicer, not a moron, and knows what he wants and isn't afraid to say it. Let's just say romancing Zevram is pretty easy, after a certain point he starts actively chasing you,and all ya have to do is accept his compliments.

TLDR: Alistair is a whiny pathetic excuse for a man with a pretty face. He disgusts me.

I never had a terrible problem with Alistair disliking the things I've done. I've always had a pretty easy time keeping his approval of me up.

-Kinda spoiler-

So the thing with morrigan wasn't difficult to persuade him to do.

-End of kinda Spoiler-

I always put my points in the persuasion because the other ones just seemed to be a waste or I already had someone else to do them.

I do think Zev is a great alternative to Alistair. I think Zev has a seriously sweet romantic side to him once you break that smexy man****-ish surface of his.

Though.. I still wuvys my Alistair <3

Alistair is a disgrace to men everywhere and should be banned from the club of men. He would make a great poster child for the whiny boys club though.

Eh...I don't know i found most of his dialogue rather entertaining.  He did get a bit irritating towards the end though when his sarcasm surpassed being humorous and came off more as being a crybaby.

Some of his banter with other party members while you're running around though is funny stuff in my opinion.  Least a lot of his exchanges with Lil and Morrigan especially when you start upping their adoration for you.

In my game anyways...hehe

Still, regardless I found him and others such as Lil and Morrigan to be some of the more entertaining characters I've played in an rpg game.  The way they interact with each other and your main character is funny as hell at times.

So many people grew up with that. Which is why so many people freaked out when I out-nerded almost every boy at school. It was fun timez

Alistair's such a wuss, risking mutilation and death in hand-to-hand combat to save lives on a daily basis. We're much manlier, here in the club of men.

Allistair hates me for some unknown reason. I give him gifts and try to talk to him, all I can say to him is ask about the wardens or about learning to become a templar. He is getting on my nerves he is always making snide remarks.....LOL

Haha, this tread is still alive. I am not going to comment on the whole nice guy situation, except that people really should read A LOT more and go out and get some experience for themselves, before being keyboard jockeys.

But I wanted to add to this tread that Alistar and dog made this game come alive. Without them, this game would be like a broken pencil.

Pointless!

For me Redcliffe was a disaster on Alistair rep. At least 3 or 4 times I took very significant rep losses with him. And I truly felt I was doing 'the right thing' each time, which is how I choose to RP my character for the first play through.

I think that is why I dislike Alistair. To have made decisions that kept him happy I would have to have been *too* goodie goodie, to the point of not being pragmatic.

Alistair is very inflexible on certain issues, and if you dare do something against those beliefs you are done for.

It didn't help that I don't think I passed a single persuade check in the entire game :( Mages just don't have the cunning to do it.

To me he is like the little whiney brother. I'll stay nice, just sometimes want to give him a little beating and tell him to grow some balls lol.
