marshalleck is right. It's a strange thing when a person has their heart broken. Girls will cry, and then rebound, seek revenge, or pretend they don't care. Guys die a bit inside, and endlessly seek a misguided retribution.

Oh please! Women's hearts are not so much different then men's when it comes to being a hopeless romantic. You can't lump all women in one category.

 Hahaha

You know that is not true, just think back for a bit. More than likely you have had someone like Alistair in your life, and as a reward for this guy being so awesome you blew him off.

Guys are pricks because that is what you chicks dig. To deny that is to lie. To lie is to be a woman. It's a vicious cycle.

He kinda reminds me of a male version of Ashley Williams from Mass Effect. I hated both characters at first, but over time they grow on you in a big way.

Hmm, I have to say Ashley never really grew on me. She always remained slightly annoying, if tolerable to me. Kaiden however, I tossed him out immediately on my first playthrough because I thought the alien characters were far more interesting. On my second playthrough however he did grow on me, but then I was a lot more thorough on that playthrough.

Alistair was kind of the same, however I was stuck with him for longer since until Sten I didn't really have another tank to replace him, and by the time I did I didn't want to replace him. He seems to think my methods are a bit unorthodox, but I'll win him over in the end. ^_^

I think the character is hilarious and acts as a good comedic break in the game.

Of course, thirty years ago, Tom Selleck (the man in that picture) was considered very sexy and people thought men looked better hairy. It's interesting to what extent culture now labels prepubescent, androgynous features in men and women as 'sexy.'

I know right?  I've played a lot of games and read a lot of books, but I don't think I've ever had a crush on a fake boy before. It's... a little strange still... Image IPB

I have to agree to an extent.  I've played my fair share of RPGs, read my fair share of fantasy/sci-fi novels, but never developed this sort of infatuation with a character.  It's so wrong.Image IPB

I liked Alistair. On my second playthrough I'll be shunning him at every opportunity. Not to spoil anything, but he becomes a right whiney **** if you make a few decisions he disagrees with.

He's worse than Sten. At least Sten had the balls to stand up to me!

I think a great thing about Alistair compared to Carth Onasi and Kaden from Mass Effect, is that he is the good guy - But without being preachy. He is both strong, yet also humorous and he has weaknesses.

Maybe they could have played more on his Templar bias than they did. It could have been great if he could be pursuaded to kill Morrigan at some point, out of his Mage hate. That would be cool!

Nope nope, it is true.  I've gone through 22yrs unable to find a sweet romantic.  Guess I've got some more years to find'em.  I'm sure Alistair is out there... somewhere... *turns on her hidden cameras* Muahahaha :bandit:

He's a boy scout, sure, but he never leads you to believe otherwise. If you aren't interested in that, go with Shale or the other tank that shouldn't be mentioned here.

From a guys perspective he is a bit needy as a buddy, but I will look out for him. Maybe I can set him up with Lily-what's-her-name after. . . That might help to man him up a bit.

Ha, thank you. This amused me greatly.

I actually know someone a lot like Alistair, only a little less whiny and more capable of making choices. He's engaged though so drat XD

Though as much as I adore Alistair and love him, in real life he may get a little too needy? Maybe. KNow what? I don't care. I end up sitting here grinning like an idiot when he's on screen =D

And to all you guys who think girls never date the nice guys, I always end up dating the nice guys. The problem with nice guys half the time is how very needy they get sometimes. Crying because I have to leave is not too cute. In fact it freaks me out a little. I like sensitive and nice guys but when you have to always pick them up and support them, well, its hard work! I would say I would avoid these relationships but unfortunately I fall for these people before I know it xD

I can really see how the boys and some girls get annoyed with his whiney-ness. Though for me, I just see this as a total addition to his super cute character.
