Alistair would get annoying over the long term, but so would all the other party members and actual people in general. That's why I tend to avoid them. People are so obnoxious.

I actually know someone a lot like Alistair, only a little less whiny and more capable of making choices. He's engaged though so drat XD  

Though as much as I adore Alistair and love him, in real life he may get a little too needy? Maybe. KNow what? I don't care. I end up sitting here grinning like an idiot when he's on screen =D

And to all you guys who think girls never date the nice guys, I always end up dating the nice guys. The problem with nice guys half the time is how very needy they get sometimes. Crying because I have to leave is not too cute. In fact it freaks me out a little. I like sensitive and nice guys but when you have to always pick them up and support them, well, its hard work! I would say I would avoid these relationships but unfortunately I fall for these people before I know it xD

I really wouldn't know about those sorts of relationships.  I always mistake the super cute romantic guys with stalkers... then again maybe those ARE the super cute romantic guys!!! /gasp!!!

But to speak seriously, I bet I'm TOTALLY way more hot than that fiance *wink wink nudge nudge*

Well, even before he became whiney, I just had no place for him in my party anymore, which was a huge shame at the time, as he and Morrigan had been amusing me for hours prior to that. I'll know better next time, and maybe Alistair will get to stay. It may be worthwhile just to see how annoyed I can make him when I'm actually TRYING to be evil



I would still pick Alistair over Shale as a party member, given the choice between them. I did the quest for Shale and I've not used him yet. It just seems like I should play the game through at least once with the characters available to everyone else.

Alistair hates me. His answers are short and rude. He blew up at me for doing something naughty and it just hasn't been the same. I give him gifts, and he says, "neat, nice", but he remains negative towards me. My solution has been to send him in to battle completely naked and on the front line.

Coming from a (straight) guy, I think Alistair is an awesome character. Super cool, great sense of humor, overall one of my favorite companions.

Shale is fantastic. Solid tanking and just an enjoyable character, kind of like a an HK47, I definitely prefer him to Alistair, but they both have their charm.

Yes, there is a double standard, but Morrigan is also an immature cat kicking ***** whereas Alistair is a charming and upstanding guy.

Feel free to mock me on this one: I've been dungeon crawling for over 30 years, and still suck big time. But there was a situation in DA that I chose to save a life, rather than kill, the cut-scenes played, and I am pretty sure I shed a tear. That's a first by far, and one pretty to hard to admit!

Twitch you're a rockstar, those are my thoughts exactly.  I dunno, I'm a female gamer.  I don't judge anyone's likes / dislikes.  I always try to be fair when it comes to silly cute things like this.  Obviously... I'm not humping my screen everytime Alistair's face pops up, but hey - if some guy totally blushed over Morrigan, I wouldn't ridicule him over it.

Wasn't there a 100+ page thread on the other DA forum about Morrigan? Can't say specifically due to spoilers, but it seems like plenty of people are completely smitten with her.

That would make sense! I mean, the stalkers would be the ones to find out all your likes and dislikes, wouldn't they? XD 

Actually I dated one of those too once. Super needy AND stalkerish, with out the romantic D= Man, I keep going wrong some where! If you're going to lurk outside my flowers to see if I'm really going to work when I say I have work, at least bring me flowers or something. Sheesh.

Absolutely. When I'm stalking a woman, a always bring three things: binoculars, a 10-speed bike, and Cool Ranch Doritos. I watch her for a few hours to learn her tastes and schedule and then speed off on the bike, but not before I leave what's left of the Doritos on her doorstep. That's just good manners.
