Goodness did David Gaider strike gold with Alistair or what?
I mean yeah the whineyness to some may be annoying, but overall... I just don't see how anyone can deny the Alistair <3 ~

Alistair IS totally adorable. I love the way his character is written, and the voice actor just makes him come to life
The game is installed on my husband's computer so he gets to play it more than I do, I begged him to leave the conquest of Alistair to my character, but then his female character went after him anyway! I was not amused when his character then decided in the end to go off with Leliana in his game - he played a Human Noble and I wanted to see the ending with the player character becoming the queen.
I am playing a Dalish Elf, so my character will never be able to be Alistair's queen
I might make a Human Noble just to get to that ending once! (And then make an evil character and discover if there's any depth to the Zevran relationship, and then make a..... etc etc)
Now I tease my husband about his pixelated girlfriend (Leliana). Alistair being my pixelated boyfriend of course. It's all in good fun.

You definitely need to play as a human noble if you like his character. Lots more adorable dialogue! And I agree about the voice actor. I can imagine Alistair looking different perhaps, but not saying anything different, or sounding any different. Amazing work Mr. Gaider (And Mr. Valentine for the use of your sexy voice)!

Lots more dialogue you say? I need to finish the game I started with the Dalish Elf, then I'll definitely make a Human Noble just for that
I couldn't help myself and looked up some of the spoiler videos from the end of the game this morning (well, it's not that much of a spoiler, I knew of the endings from watching my husband play. The only reason I'm behind in the game, is that I had to work on the weekend
) Definitely Human Noble sounds like a better option at the end.
WTB mod to make Alistair marry an Elf!

The human noble Origin is my favorite one. Very emotional! But ya I'm guilty of reloading just the archdemon fight to relive my happy ending.

why can't boys irl be this sweet?
Because those of us that are, never gets the girl cause you fall in love with the rebellious, stupid, shortsighted "cool guys" that started smoking when they were 12. And when you are 20 years old with 2 kids and a chainsmoker yourself, with a guy who never appreciate you and sleeps with other girls showing you no respect THEN you think "Hey... maybe i took a wrong turn" (no shi* genius). Then one day you seek out the nice guy that had a crush on you on school thinking "maybe he still loves me, maybe he still remembers me..." only to find an arrogant manipulative ****** at the door that dont even remember your face.
You also see 2 half naked girls in his sofa and you ask "Hey youre not that kinda guy?" and the former nice guy answer "No idea who you are baby, but when the love of my life ditched me in highschool that guy died, i found out i had to change to get the women"
Stereotypical story? Yes.
Sad but true? Yes.
Am i bitter much? Definatly
If a girl wonder why there is so much evil in the world, the answer to that question is YOU.
- Regards, former Alistair that got toughened alot and went for morrigan instead when the Leliana girls didnt want him.
Edit: Typos

Well, doesn't that also fault the nice guy who falls in love with the stupid mean chick? It seems your story leaves out the genuine girls. I know I've been very into nice guys who were dating crazy mean girls who took advantage of them. Can't really blame all guys or all girls I guess
I will edit that statement and say: Why can't I meet a boy that sweet IRL? ^.^

Id say the reason men like him dont exist in the real world is because in the real world he would be absolutely useless for anything.
Yes im sure it's fandabidoozy that he is a cute slightly unsure of himself kinda guy who doesnt let responsibility bother him, if only because he never takes responsibility for anything.
But you really think he could ever live in the real world? I bet he couldnt hold down a job for starters, have a nice life living out of a council flat.
Also i hate people who cant take responsibility for anything, carefree people only exist because people like me pick up after them.

But he does take responsibility. He may not be a leader in a good portion of the game, but that doesn't mean he's skirting his duties. He takes his "job" as a Grey Warden very seriously. Laying his life on the line every day to save mankind from a Blight seems rather responsible to me ^.^

Perhaps, but let's face it a lot of his choices have been made for him.

He can't hold a conversation without becoming confused twenty seconds into it, he lacks integrity when it comes to his duties as a templar, and his mannerisms lead me to believe that he suffers from borderline autism.
Fun to have around if you need someone to boost your ego.

There's plenty of guys that may remind you of Alistair. Fx. I'm one, just with a more perverted and provocative humour and minus the whiney-ness.
But it's true... women tend to go for the loud badboys and ignore/overlook us more quiet and shy guys. But then again... many shy and quiet guys just love the Morrigan-types. Heh. Maybe they're right about it; we're attracted to our opposites.
Oh, am I the only one who thinks there's a love/hate relationship between Morrigan and Alistair? I could totally see those two end up together in the end. A bit like Leia and Han Solo.

I thought about it, but he's scared of her, and she has absolutely no respect for him. I don't think there's any room for love for either of them lol.
Of course... nvm this is in the non-spoilers section o.O

So there is no romance for the female player character with Alistair? I would have thought that was a given! (If this is too spoilerific for this bit of the forum, don't answer.)
I'm playing as male but I've been thinking it would be easy for his dialogue to be interpreted as "more than friends" and would easily tranfer to the beginnings of a romance with a female player character. Personally, I don't get the attraction but each to her own.
EDIT: Whoa. Forgive me if this has been answered, I only read the first page. Still getting used to the forum layout. (And I'm still only a bit part Redcliffe in the game.)

Women, or rather, female characters, have three options: Alistair, Leliana or Zevren. I've only gone through the Alistair one so far, but I'm sure the other two are interesting as well ^.^

Oh God - here was I trying to romance Leliana as male. (But I'm guessing that is still possible too.)
That's funny.
