 i noticed durning the demo (X360) i looted a vial of darkspawn blood from the corpse of hurlock (more than once) 
i'm simply wondering about the signifigance of this as this raises a few questions:

why did they put in a possibly useless item?
is it an easter egg for the demo?
can this be used to make posions and the like? (for us or darkspawn)
can it be used for magic rituals other than the joining?
CAN WE BE A GREY WARDEN!?!?!?!

Darkspawn always carry vials of darkspawn blood with them. I guess most get smashed in the fight though.

I laughed when I saw it. It's a junk item, but I'm guessing they don't have glass vials of their blood running in the veins.

I heard that Darkspawn couples carry vials of one another's blood around their necks as pendants.  They consider Angelina and Billy Bob the perfect Hollywood couple and wish to mimick their every action.  Darkspawn couples don't stay together for very long...

I wondered about this, too. I'm sure it wasn't there for no reason and it got me very curious.

I don't know, I think it might be that at some point you may be able to go through the joining, but maybe not. Hawke is effecting the world in a much larger way than being a gray warden allows. Or.....it could just be junk to sell and a tip to the first game.

you are a Darkspawn. your options are
1 : let Wardens kill you and drain your corpse of blood
2 : carry a vial of blood on your person, feign death, let them loot it and run like buggery
that is why the 'corpses' vanish so fast

Yeah, but I can't see spreading the taint just to make fights easier, especially when there are so many other poisons. That would be pretty reckless. And it wouldn't work. It takes longer than the length of a fight for the taint to take effect.
