So this guy being interviewed is director of marketing or somesuch? That explains an awful lot, actually.

Playing through Origins again, I am really appreciating the detailed, textured look of the graphics.

Well its clear he never took a communication class, If he said "like" or "right" any more............

It'd be interesting to see the final tally.

Someone with a little more refinement and command of the english language would be better suited, Laidlaw comes to mind, that man should sell used cars! I just believe everything he says lol, very well spoken and articulate

I facepalmed from start to finish. I'd take the screeching chick over that any day.

LOL yeah he had me cringing too.

Can someone take screencaps of the new scenes? I don't think I can stomach listening to him again.

Just mute the video.

This man needs to, like, never speak in public again, right?

Because, you know, it's as if he, like, can't complete, like, a sentence without saying "like", "you know", or "right".

Please - put articulate people in front of the camera from now on.

Thank you.

Problem is, Silverman is the "Worldwide Director of Marketing" according to DA2's credits....

He seems more like the Worldwide Director of FUBARing" to me. I really wish they would stop letting him interview, it's never as good as when Mike does them.

What an awful interview

I agree, keep this guy as far away from DA2 as possible that was an absolute shocker. Posted Image  Have seen another one with him and that sucked too.  Doesn't know what his talking about and sounds pissed.(drunk)

I will only watch interviews with Legend Laidlaw from now on.

David wasn't the problem with the interview, it was the drunk a-hole who had no idea what was going on in a franchise he hasn't invested any time in. Oh and the fact he carried the interview like a drunk slob

I highlighted the key word there.

Honestly, whoever hired this man for this position should take a good long look at their own standards.

Man, that interview made me sad. It was basically him listing all the stuff that made DA:O detailed, memorable, awesome and then going... "yea, that stuff was dumb, so we took it out"

No, not at all.

The problem is that the Worldwide Director of Marketing - the man in charge of determing the image for this game, and placing that image in front of potential customers, cannot speak without unnecessary filler words.

Honestly, he should be embarressed.

Well, it does explain several of the obvious changes from DA:O. I was wondering about the complete lack of the beautiful backgrounds we had in DA:O-- that's intentional, because they wanted to spend the processing on the characters. I thought the "sameness" of environments was due to the small sample in the demo, but apparently it holds throughout the game.

I dislike the decision-- backgrounds and the varying environments were two of the things that made me drop my jaw in wonder in DA:O. When the world includes the mountaintops of Haven and the marshes of the Korcari wilds, you get the feeling of a real, very large world. And the background artwork was amazing. At the same time, I know DA:O was repeatedly described as "not very pretty" by some major review sites, mostly because of the character models.

So, from a purely marketing viewpoint, I understand the decision. But what's this about the story being a problem? Has ANYONE ever said that the writing and story was a problem in DA:O? Ok, fine, it's the internet, someone probably did somewhere. Still, Bioware's writing team earned huge and deserved kudos for what they did with DA:O. I really hope that marketing didn't lean on them the same way they leaned on the art department.

Finally. Please God, can we excise the adjective "badass" from videogame descriptions? Unless we really are only marketing to teen boys now-- who no doubt have some other slang word by now, leaving "badass" in the dustbin along with "extreme" "cool" "hip" and "the bee's knees".

I might believe that if Silverman wasn't pretty consistent in his attitude in marketing. This is very Silverman, and he says stuff like this all the time.

Still, you'd think they were making different games by listening to Mike and Silverman talk about the same things. For those offput by this interview, just don't watch anything he's in anymore--only the Laidlaw interviews.

Double the irony really.

The worst interviewer I've seen in a long time, interviewing the worst interviewee bioware has to offer. Match made in heaven? hell more like.

Yeah interview was terrible. The person doing the interview sounded like he never played Origins and as for Silverman...well remind me when DA3 comes out to only watch interviews where they are interviewing Mike or someone that has actually worked on the game.

Edit: Spelling

I think Mike Laidlaw is better at selling the game than the marketing guy, or at the very least he's more careful about not constantly trashing the first game which many people loved.
