Wow, not a fan of this interviewer. Wanting to "teach the naysayers"? So other people can't just have diffrent opinions? You want to defend the things you like, cool. But don't run down others for having diffrent perspective.

I think you are forgetting a very important detail, that being that no one has really played the game besides a short demo.  Our opinions are just based on impressions and a short demo, not the game.  All I think he is saying is that if those people give the game a fair shake, he is confident that the game will change their inititial impressions of the game.

I think that sentiment is far from saying that people can't have different opinions.

As somebody said, this man being director of marketing for both DA games explains a hell of a lot. Marilyn Manson. Sacred Ashes. Push a button and something AWSUM happens. Think like a general, fight like a Spartan. Yeah, I can see this guy thinking of that and telling himself ''it's, like, GENIUS, right!'' <_<.

Seriously, the marketing for the Dragon Age series is the worst in my history of video games marketing, ever (and that sure is saying a lot). You are supposed to enhance the qualities of the product, not change them completely. Only results possible is a small spike in sales, then dissapointed customers.

I think Mike Laidlaw is better at selling the game than the marketing guy, or at the very least he's more careful about not constantly trashing the first game which many people loved.

This

Yes, I don't understand the point of bashing Origins....especially since many people want to buy DA2 because we loved Origins so much.

Double the irony really.

The worst interviewer I've seen in a long time, interviewing the worst interviewee bioware has to offer. Match made in heaven? hell more like.

 Good thing they can't fuse their awful interviewing powers into one being. Or can they? :o

Though seriously though if I didn't know about DA2 before I saw that interview I certainly wouldn't become interested in it afterwards.

My favorite parts of this interview were "Button and awesome are now connected" and something about "not watering down the RPG elements" (paraphrased). Don't get me wrong, I liked ME 1, ME 2, loved DAO and I'm sure I'll like DA II. It's just not as much as an RPG as I would have liked

I actually liked the level of detail in DA:O, made it feel like the places were lived in and took away from the fact that you were essentially walking down a long corridor. By taking the detail away its just going to feel like im hacking and slashing down a bland empty corridor with no character to it. Id take a hit in graphics over that any day.

Also, the marketing guy just sounded like he was talking bull...suppose he was doing his job then

Completely agree. It's one thing to tactfully outline what was executed poorly in DAO and point out how it's been improved/overhauled in DA2 (as Laidlaw's done in plenty of interviews), but to indicate that Origins is basically inferior seems like a bad direction to go in.

Look, how can the guy giving the interview have any decent questions about the second game without even playing origins, yes it's apparent he hasn't played origins from the interview, and yes I do agree David should never speak on behalf of bioware games ever again. Hell I'd pay him to never say anything about future bioware titles

Each time I watch Silverman I am convinced he has never played an RPG in his life.

I could be wrong.

Honestly, the primary reason I'm still getting DA2 is because of Origins. DA2's marketing has done next to nothing to make me want the game on its own merits and if nothing else, has given me reasons to not want it.

And yes, the actual developers like Laidlaw or Gaider do a much better job of selling the game. I almost think its like the marketing people haven't played the game or at least don't really get it. Its like they were just handed a list of bullet points on the game or just watched some videos of it and market from that.

This man needs to, like, never speak in public again, right?

Because, you know, it's as if he, like, can't complete, like, a sentence without saying "like", "you know", or "right".

Please - put articulate people in front of the camera from now on.

Thank you.

Problem is, Silverman is the "Worldwide Director of Marketing" according to DA2's credits....

He seems more like the Worldwide Director of FUBARing" to me. I really wish they would stop letting him interview, it's never as good as when Mike does them.

I agree. Compared to Mike, his 'enthusiasm' comes off as a douche salesman. Ever since Origins, I don't take Silverman or the marketing seriously and just focus on what the developers say.

Okay, as excited as I was to see new gameplay footage, this interview was SO bad I couldn't even bring myself to watch the rest of it. Jesus, who lets this kid interview people? He did so badly that *I* felt embarrassed for him. Then again, maybe I'm just being one of those "online, negative naysayers".

Pretty sure he means random piles of books that lay around and do nothing but give you blank ****ing vellum.

That blank vellum will save your life one day!

Perhaps if your Hawke finds himself/herself stranded in the middle of nowhere during a freak blizzard, he/she could use all that blank vellum to keep a fire going. Saved by the vell! Posted Image

Ooooof, I feel like this interview is yelling at me.... Too harsh!

And, yes, as a matter of fact, I DID notice the books scattered everywhere. I DID notice the environments and details and I thought they were really cool. And, just it's on the record, I was able to use the top-down view AND notice the pretty ceilings. It's a long game, and I did a lot of exploring and view-point changing.

Makes one wonder if Mike Laidlaw's talent at selling the game and him being Lead Designer are connected?

I am SO sick of the marketing for DA2 bashing DA:O. Just stop. That was a horrible interview, and if I knew nothing about the Dragon Age franchise beforehand, I would laugh it off and save my RPG monies for November. At least Bethesda doesn't crap all over Skyrim's predecessors when talking about the new game.

It'd be interesting to see the final tally.

Someone with a little more refinement and command of the english language would be better suited, Laidlaw comes to mind, that man should sell used cars! I just believe everything he says lol, very well spoken and articulate

Seriously...I'm taking a speech class and this is making me cringe so much. Nobody in that course is half as bad at public speaking as he is. Get somebody else up there, that was painful to watch.

Both the interviewer and Silverman are annoying.

Ironically enough, to the hardcore audience, the marketing people are usually the worst people at well, marketing.

We appriciate direct stuff straight from the source, not some second hand marketing bull****. Though Silverman is a severe case of the bull****.

Seriously- thats how you market an RPG.

And I love how SIlverman claims the camera is just the same as Origins on the PC. Nice try.<_<
