So this guy being interviewed is director of marketing or somesuch? That explains an awful lot, actually.

His title changes in every interview, but yes, that's what he is.

As somebody said, this man being director of marketing for both DA games explains a hell of a lot. Marilyn Manson. Sacred Ashes...

I wasn't impressed by the Sacred Ashes trailer, but it was incredibly well received by the general internet base and the people in the forums.

At least Bethesda doesn't crap all over Skyrim's predecessors when talking about the new game.

Seriously- thats how you market an RPG.

And I love how SIlverman claims the camera is just the same as Origins on the PC. Nice try.<_<

I really do hate how they have to slam origins to make DA2 look better. That's not a good thing.

Did ME2 have a lot of bashing of ME1? Because I recall some gentle fun poking (mostly at the inventory) but not anything so "OMG ME1 was terribly slow, generic, blah blah blah."

"Criticism revolved around three things: graphics, combat, and story." Was that a joke? Did I play the same game? While graphics and combat could certainly use a little polish, the story was actually criticised? I'm really beginning to wonder why I was attracted to this franchise at all, with all the marketing "experts" harping on about how ugly the object of my attraction was.

What quick-talking, board room genius with hair gel came up with the marketing focus of bashing everything that attracted many players to the franchise to begin with?

Sacred Ashes trailer was fun to watch, but not exactly indicative of the game itself. Other trailers--like the Asassin's Creed trailer, the L4D trailers--are both dynamic and give you a clue about what the game will be like.

Funny enough though, the Sacred Ashes combat with Leliana flipping around like a spider monkey in a bouncy castle is rather similar to what DA2's combat looks like now.

Yeah that marketing guy is pretty garbage. Even non-fans aren't going to buy a sequel to a game with "problems" that are supposedly "fixed."

Ha, that is true. It's funny that the kung-fu staff Morrigan and the ninja Leliana is closer to DAII...but the DAII trailer with a mage who fights essentially like a warrior isn't.

What is this Silverman guy on? The books scattered on the floor were some of my favorite details of Origins. I love how he just assumes absolutely no one even noticed those, let alone cared about the level of detail put into the game.

How terribly unsurprising that he's the director of marketing. Guess that explains Marilyn Manson and all the rest of the asinine crap that was the Origins marketing.

I am a lurker in the forums most of the time, but I couldn't stop myself from commenting on this video.

Silverman is a joke. His being head of marketing explains why the marketing scheme has been so abysmal.

For future reference, Mr. Silverman, if you are going to go into an interview, please know something about the game you are supposed to promote--or, at the very least, be a better liar and be able to fake it.

They stripped nothing out? What? Has he not even played the game he is trying to hype/sell?! Gah.

Also...

It's unfair to me that he took away my camera...bah

Uh, Yeah, I did pay attention to all that "ancillary" detail in the Circle Tower <_< It made it feel like I was traversing through a formerly grand and well-used mage tower that was now ruined and corrupted by evil entities. The locations in DA:O were immersive, and a LARGE part of that was how well detailed each area was.
I really hope DA2's areas aren't going to be prettied up PSO levels. That would be very disappointing. :(

WOW...this guy is knocking DA:O for having completely different looking environments in...completely different environments in the game?!  Yeah, genius, we DO want elven forests to look lush and green and underground caverns and roads to be brown and dark.  Derr.

"Yeah, uh, we didn't like how, uh, lush and green the forests looked in DA:O compared to the brown and dark Deep Roads.  We felt players wanted all locations within the game to have the same overall look to them.  Namely, BLAH"

:pinched::pinched::pinched::pinched:

I'm worried about this game now.  I thought the demo's art and overall look (brown and bland) might be just a fluke, but starting to think now every location is going to be accented with ash gray and turd brown.

He obviously didn't care for DA:O.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. No need to cry because he didn't like DA:O.

Why not? He did a horrible job at selling the game. He is getting universally trashed for good reason. Does not mean I dislike the fella as a human being.

Not surprisingly, I once again hold a very slight minority opinion. I, personally, didn't like all the books on the ground, reminded too much of Ninja Gaiden II, but that was an action game and the books did serve a purpose, to hide the location of an item and you could attack them and books would fly off the shelf.

In Origins, I failed to see a purpose to them, the only thing they did for me was obstruct the view of trying to figure out what objects I could interact with and which objects were just part of the environment.

I didn't understand the use of such limited colors either and I didn't get any atmosphere out of the environment at all, whereas I feel a lot of atmosphere from Kirkwall at night an that feeling, it's not really safe to be out at night for the normal person.

Deathblow animations are very much improved too. Honestly, the only thing I got, emotionally, from the killing of the Archdemon were the savage cries of Cree Summer (aggressive female elf voice) as she pulled her weapon out of its head. Oh, and the flashy white blast was cool too.

Imagine if Casey Hudson and Mike Laidlaw worked on a new franchise together. It would be EPIC!

Personally, I expect the Worldwide Director of Marketing - or whatever title they want to give him this week - to be able to formulate and articulate a complete sentence without pausing for words such as "like" or "you know", and be able to end his sentence with something other than "right?".

But maybe that's just asking for too much.
