Seriously, who critisised the story besides G4? Everyone else loved it!

Origin's story was pretty generic fantasy stuff in my opinion, to be honest. But the journey, characters and writing made up for it as did quite a few aspects of the lore. This is one reason why I'm looking forward to the sequel, as it's not an epic save the world plot it seems. I.e., it's more personal.

That interview was awful. I don't know who is worse, the PR-bull****-spouting guy or the sycophantic interviewer. The PR dude was just talking down all the things we loved about DAO like varied environments and detail. I've never been so conflicted. On one hand, he should be given a raise for his ability to spout well rehearsed PR crap and fill in the rest with useless conjecture. On the other he should be fired for talking down to 'haters' and 'complainers' (ie a part of your fanbase) that aren't too happy about the changes made.
And I hate the desperation-laced questions from the interviewer. I've noticed that when guys from a small gamer site interview developers they get all sycophantic and agree with everything the PR guy says, no matter how stupid it is. It's basically like they're saying "I'll agree with you so next time you'll consider my site for your PR blitz!"

"you're not going to import your Shephard"

Oh, really? *headdesk*

Silverman should really take a look at this open letter to EA marketing. And pay special attention to the part about the OLD EA values.

What an interview. I don't think I've ever heard anyone before make the claim that Kurosawa movies are disinterested in background detail.

I really agree with him on all points, but I'm probably not "supposed" to post in your hate thread. Carry on.

I don't know, I kind of like Mr. Button-Awesome-Connected-Now Silverman.

To be fair about the extra "clutter" being removed, they made these changes to allow for more diverse combat on screen IIRC

This interview made me cringe inside. Thanks for posting it though.

That was my reaction too. Gameplay didn't make it much better either. Welcome to Dragon Effect 2.

He said the 3 things that were lacking (based on complaints) were

1) Combat
2) Graphics
3) Story

I know 1 was definitely improved. But 2 and 3 are question marks. We've just gotten a Swedish review saying the story was not good. I hope that isn't the case. :crying: The story in DAO was boring and I can't take it again.

To be honest, I really didn't notice the millions of books in the Circle either.

I did and you didn't miss much, as the detail was quite ordinary.

I couldnt bare to watch the whole thing, the pair of those guys just made my ears want to implode.
People complained about DA:O story? seriously? i'm thinking... but i can't find what there is to complain about, there was nothing wrong with it...
Graphics of DA:O where fine too.
Sure the combat could have done with some tweaks, which it got, but now they went to far imo. Its a shame its cost us character emersion, realistic/believeable daiolgue in cutscenes, nicely detailed and varied environments, customisable party members, true tactical gameplay and a nice area camera view... oh and most importantly modding tools not being confirmed is big kick in the nuts for me too :(

I do think this interview is probably the worst advert for a game and/or its company i've ever seen
