Wow I looked at the subject and thought I can predict what the posters is going to say and what do you know, I was right.

The shortcomings, you will not be able to choose your race, your origin, you will be more limited in character development, equipment choices, strategy and dialogue options.

Character development is not about race and no we will not be more limited in character development than in DAO. We will still be able to role play and build Hawke as we would like.

While i agree with this, the difference is it one of the things that has me playing the game over and over.  Perhaps I am just strange like that I find myself playing games over and over just to see how different people react to the different races.  Atleast Ill save some time on this one i suppose,.

Different strokes for different folks. I like fast paced action games with rpg elements. I hate slow paced games. DA2 is a nice blend of both.

I guess the come question is why did people have to come in and ruin it for those who liked dragon age origins game play I mean isn't there plenty of other fast paced action games out there was it really neccessary to take a good salute to the roots rpg and turn it into action game?

Who'd ruining it for anybody?  Bioware made the decision to do this and those who like fast-paced games reap the reward.  Their presence did not dictate the design.

Sigh.

The RPG is dead, all hail the RPG.

DA2 owns, you suck.
In the interest of this not being spam: seriously, I literally cannot comprehend how anyone could not like da2 better than DA:O, and I adore old school PC games so uh?

...Perhaps its rose tinted glasses, perhaps its the charm a fresh new series has, or perhaps it's because Dragon Age has undeniably lost many of the CRPG elements that are all but unheard of these days, for good (financial) reasons of course, but they're gone and not coming back all the same.

This.

Ah yes, indeed.

Ahhhhh, yessssss... ''Demo feedback thread'', we have dismissed that claim.

You want to be heard, be heard there, that's what it is for. Posting it here proves only that you are a selfimportant attention seeker.

Read the whole thing. I like that you aren't just straight out hating on the game and talk seriously about what is good about the game and what is not. I agree with most of the things you said, give or take.

Even though I am sad about what bioware have taken away, I am happy about a lot of things they have brought to the series. As a fan of the series, I will try my best to play the game with an open mind and look at what is good instead of what is bad.

I am one of the old PC gamers

I stopped reading there since I knew where it was heading.

Yeah as soon as I saw that I knew it was one of those "I'm old and experianced and have played lots of games so this gives me enough credibility to critisize design choices because I could definetly make it better." ...threads.

Reminds me of the, "I've been playing (game) since (closed beta/alpha)" people in MMOs that seem to think that lends any credibility to their argument.

Well the issue is that Bioware seeks a wide audience of console gamers interested in games like Call of Duty or God of War. They are slowly shifting in that direction.

To OP-many here share your views, and opinions.Others are even more harsher. The thing is-there are a lot of fanboys willing to defend Bioware no matter what.

Isn't it hilarious that for a long time RPG was considered nerdy and now it's the "new cool thing"?

There are also a lot of people who genuinely like the game and would like their voices heard just as much as those who dislike it.

And there's the real reason behind all these changes.  It's not really Bioware's fault even, no company of their status and budget can reasonably be expected not to cater to mainstream interests, it's the only way they can meet their financial expectations.  The problem is however, that there's virtually no studios in the grey area between "High Profile AAA", and "Put together on the computer in my basement Indy" producing old school styled games, which leaves us with the dwindling pen and paper crowd, or mainstream/semi-mainstream games such as this one.

Are yes because only the haters and those who are cynical can offer objective opinions.
