Ok I bought this game today. Which includes the original plus awakening
and the DLC. Download went well. I own the steam version.  First time playing went well. However
after I loaded the game and registered I noticed in the download content
tab that all the dlc was unauthorized.

See picture # 1 please: http://i52.tinypic.com/jgsdxi.jpg

So I joined the EA chat support and they gave me 2 websites to go visit
and follow the steps which I admit I problery never should have.

So I followed the steps first at http://support.ea.co...detail/a_id/212 and then http://support.ea.co...detail/a_id/212 Did exactly what it said and heres what resulted after doing all that work:

http://i55.tinypic.com/et8bbs.jpg

Basically tonight my game went from having everything :  http://i52.tinypic.com/jgsdxi.jpg  to having nothing and just the base game :  http://i55.tinypic.com/et8bbs.jpg

if anyone has an ideas that would be great I tried validating the files but nothing is missing according to steam. I could uninstall through steam and redownload it all agian however thats a 24 gb file and my ISP cap is almost full so I cant really go and do that

Where to begin? You second picture is not very helpful, I am afraid, because there should not be any "available content". "Available Content" means stuff that's available to buy... there is none for you, you already own it.

As for authorizing errors, it's the most common issue reported on this site. Check out the stickies at the top of this forum, or try the roundup linked to my signature below.

Best,

Have you tried to "login" at the main game menu? I believe you have to contact the DA servers at least once for the authorization process to work properly. Judging from your screenshots, you are logged out.  It seems to me from screenie 2 that you actually HAVE the DLC (it's not available for purchase, as Raen above me has pointed out already).
You only need to be logged in for as long as it takes for the DLC to become authorized.
When I got my new computer about a month back, I had to log in and stay logged in for about 5 minutes for the authorization process to be completed.
Haven't been logged in since, and haven't had any problems at all (running the Ultimate Edition on Windows 7).

I did that ive been logged in for the past 10 mins now nothing has changed. Further more the code that the support chat gave me last night unlocked for me content but it was for content released way back in 2009. At least thats a start.   So atm my buying section looks like this : i54.tinypic.com/2ykgcn6.jpg

and my current installed section looks like :i55.tinypic.com/2u44ze0.jpg

and heres my current ingame promotions:  i56.tinypic.com/ztd91l.jpg

should I go and contact support for the 5th time and say "I got everything working why does my content still dont want to authorize after following ur steps and getting the dlc that you gave me got activated and the content I actually bought still does not?"

I did that however all it does is unauthorize all the content ingame but when I log out it reauthorizes all the content expect for the content that you saw I got a message back from steam they said to talk to EA's chat again to get a new key or have them upload the dlc to thier servers directly. I am currently in thier chat and I  hope to get this saga done today at least I managed to find a way to kill 12 hours

OK, need some clarifying now. You say that EA support gave you a code that probably is out-dated??
Are you using the retail version of DA Ultimate Edition? If so, there should be a new code for the DLC with it. Do you own DLC that was registered for the original release (judging from the fact that they gave you a code that's two years old, I have to ask). If you use an old code for your DLC, you are likely to get into trouble.

Here's what I did when I installed DA UE (retail) on my new computer. Note that on my previous computer I had DA:O v. 1.02b installed:
* Installed DA UE, including the DLC that comes with it
* Logged in to social.bioware.com (this site), deleted original DA:O CD key, and entered the new one for DA UE.
-> My previous copy of the game was thus "disabled" (along with my old DLC)
* Registered the NEW DLC code (the one that came with the UE, not my old!)
* Started game, logged in to DA servers after checking that the #¤%&#¤& daupdater service actually DID run :-)
* Waited for about 5 mins for the authorization process to finish

That worked for me, though I had to try a couple of times before I got everything working - probably because the antivirus program kept butting in. Notably I had problems with WH giving the "unable to load area" message.

EDIT: Ah, now I see you are on steam. I will shut my trap then, for I have no knowledge of how steam handles this. :innocent:

Ok I own the steam dragon age ultimate edition for the PC. I registered with the key for the game that worked perfectly. This enabled the game itself and awakening and blood armour dlc to work. None of the other DLC was authorized. When I went to their chat they gave me a key that unlocked content released when orgins was released. But this key did not authorize the content that I paid for. Steam told me to contact EA's chat since everything is in order this is problery the last time I buy something off of steam from bioware

steam came back to me again and said that based upon what I have provided and the fact that the dlc is registered to me and the code did not authroize me they allowed me to do this one step and if it worked good enough. As a result of following the step given to me by them I am now able to use my DLC. Well at least the problem is now solved i say

``Locate AddIns.xml in "C:/(Username)/Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings" and edit it using Notepad. Replace all RequiresAuthorization="1" with RequiresAuthorization="0". This will allow you to play the DLC that you purchased even though the CD Key is not working atm through EA`s own servers in terms of authorizing your code.``

Ah, yes, another one who has had to resort to the only real way to make sure the DLC is/stays usable... I knew about this, but this is by some considered hacking, you know... This tip pops up once in a while, but I guess EA aren't too happy with it. :-)
This is the only way I know that works 100% with the DLC. As long as the content is installed correctly (which should be no problem at all with the UE), editing the file as instructed will pretty much make the content be as it should - something to have great fun with, not a great source for headache.
It's a shame that all that great content for DA BioWare has created is marred by a draconic system of distribution and DRM that basically creates nothing but woe for their customers. :-(
Glad you got it sorted out, happy gamin'. :-)

yes well its the tip that steam gave me after i explained the problme and the fact that the 2 other ways of getting your dlc authorized did not work. Of course as they stated also that this solution may or may not solve the problem. I first thought everything was good to go but looks like thier solution dint solve it. least I can go and submit another ticket to them im back to where I was this morning atm where I have all the dlc working expect for stuff from return to ostagr to now hopefully this will get fixed perfectly by sunday that would be ideal

Again, I'm not into Steam at all, but I would presume that they give you the same DA UE as I have;
* DA: Origins
* DA: Awakening
* Leliana's Song
* Golems of Amgarrak
* Witch Hunt
patched to 1.04.

In addition to these "main" features, you should get access to all released DLC that isn't considered "promotional" stuff. That means you should get (at least) The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar as well.
Now, the way Steam distributes this stuff I'm not into. But again - you SHOULD get the same packages as me.

Thing is - installing them isn't enough. They must be authorized. Now, assuming everything in your install/setup of DA UE is correct, you should only need to authorize this once to decrypt the content - all "offers", all .xmls etc. should be correct.

Now, if you open addins.xml in NotePad or some such and use the "change all" option for the string "Requires Authorization=1" and replace it with "Requires Authorization=0" that SHOULD be enough... But again, you have to log in to the DA servers at least ONCE, or this will not work.

If this still doesn't work for you, I would start considering the "nuclear option", as some like to put it... As painful as it might be.
The problem MAY be your Steam installation itself.

ok i shall try this way again and see if it fixes its to bad i cant just get someone to view my computer and fix it for me lol idk why ea cant go and do that would make my lifes easier still waiting to hear back from steam atm about my 2nd ticket it seems to me that both steam and EA is blameing each other as to whats causing this problem let me also say that this is the last time I will buy something from EA on steam

ok i did what u said this problem never seems to want to solve itself does it. Most of the items that EA gave me from that 3rd code doe work. However the DLC that came with Ultimate Edition or more specificy still does not work such as the areas in "Other Campagins" either says "module not found" or "unable to load area"

DLC that says "module not found":

Dark Spawn Chronicles

Lelians song

DLC that says "unable to load area"

Witch Hunt

The Golems of Amgarrak

At least awkaneing and origins works but i just want this working there must be something simple I am not doing the question is what is that.

You may have already checked this with all the searching you've had to do, but open the DA config utility and make sure your CD key shows up in the "Game" tab.
