I use windows XP so I redo my OS time to time. I installed Mass Effect, then BDTS add-on, aquired a keycode and validated the add-on. Today, I re-installed ME 1 (STEAM download) but an EA window opens that says:

The Game Can Not Start
For security reasons, only a limited number of machines can ever be licensed by a single purchase. This limit has been reached. Please purchase another registration code, etc

I'm using the same machine and I have never had a keycode problem with Mass Effect 1 (purchased at STEAM)

there is no other keycode to purchase, especially since BDTS was a FREE add-on. What's the fix? Thanks

ME1 had a limited number of times it could be installed with the same activation key before it became "locked". It wasnt clearly mentioned that you had to deregister and then re-register teh game each time it was uninstalled in order to avoid this.

All you can do now is contact EA support to get them to fix this. Use their live chat facility, as you should be able to get them to do it fairly quickly, compared to email which could take a few days.
