In DA:O, and Awakening, you could pause on the console by simply pressing the PS3 Home button (the clear one in the middle) or the Xbox button in the center of the Xbox ontroller, which, although poor substitute to a proper pause, worked fine for that sole purpose.
(Talking about during cutscenes, by the way.)
During the DA2 demo, this didn't work. Is this simply because it was in a primary stage of the game? Or was this purpose fully done? There doesn't appear to be a game pause feature (in the demo at least, I understand this could be different in the retail version), so I was wondering why this problem occured.

I was just about to start a topic about this until I saw this. VERY annoying, being able to pause in the middle of dialogue was an incredibly useful feature. If it's not in the final game, I'll have to choose between only playing when I'm reasonably sure I have no outside distractions, or saving literally every 5 minutes to minimize lost progress when I need to restart every time I'm interrupted.
Either way, I can see no reason to disable out-of-combat pausing when you can pause just fine in combat. It serves only to make the game less fun and more aggravating.

I know what you mean; often a problem for me, as I like to play games while waiting for dinner, but I can't exactly keep my family waiting while I watch a cutscene. Not much I can do about it on the PC, though, it seems. Oh, well.
