I always wondered this. The Normandy didn't drop it. Noveria wouldn't have Alliance military vehicles lying around. Odd that the settlers on Feros would have one too, since they were also not Alliance and didn't appear to have any military around.
How DID the Mako get to the Noveria garage and the Feros skyway, anyway?

I always presumed it was a different Mako and that a "Mako" was a pretty standard all terrain vehicle used through out the galaxy. Just my 2pence.

I'm guessing that the original idea would have been to use one of the articulated assault vehicles you see blown up and burning all over the place, but was changed due to lack of time/resources, and they just defaulted to the Mako.

What others said, but we can also assume they dropped it in same as Shepard never eats or uses the bathroom, or Thorian clones are born with clothing, and all aliens are very human-like.

I thought the same thing on this subject...
Never really gave it too much thought, but what little I did just made me think they're pretty common Vehicles and probably the kind of thing that can be bought by anyone, not just Military.
A small logo change would have been cool...but no game-breaker for me.

I was thinking that, but the Codex is pretty clear about these being Alliance military vehicles.

Since I'm currently replaying ME1 - on Feros I had Liara along, and she mentions that now that the Geth in the tower were dealt with, it was safe to deploy the ground vehicle. So at least on Feros, it is supposed to be the Mako.

The mako is magic.
Even given the reasons why, it's still amazing that the mako can be dropped from space and not take any damage from impact while landing on planets. Also, I can't imagine what it's like riding in that thing while traveling over mountainous terrain, especially when the mako tips over and etc. I'd imagine that the passengers would be black and blue and vomit everywhere inside.

Arthur... you forgot that gravity in which Mako is NOT gravity of the planet.

I'd still like to see them riding in it, and it's always funny seeing it slide down a hill while upside-down.
