Im not saying its not worth it. But if xbox360 wants to be the next wii where everyone has one in the household collecting dust and maybe used in parties i.e. xbox kinect and netfllix than why pay for xbox connection when the services themselves pay Microsoft and perhaps increase profits?

...No, it doesn't work that way.

Microsoft doesn't allow independent stores on their system. Dragon Age: Origins "in-game store" is just a mirror of Microsoft's Xbox Live servers for DA:O. They wouldn't allow Bioware to put in a different game's content through that. Not to mention, even if it were possible, only DA:O players would be able to access it.

hey i have a stupid question. To get my black emporium etc will the silver pass be sufficient? I just got connected and getting used to the xbox live thing. Sad but true.

Yeah, it will. Any DLC you have a code for will work with Xbox Silver/Free.

There is no real identifiable, or justificable 'reason.' aside from an argument that shouldn't be brought upon here. Just giving you a head's up that it's generally not a swell idea to bring up 'reasons.' when they are no justifiable reasonings behind it. 

On topic; not Bioware's schtick, complain at Microsoft. It's a policy of what they do and give to their Gold subscribers. I just hope Plus doesn't start this up as well. So yeah, if you're to complain about something out of Bioware's hands, go to Microsoft.  

As for makiing it available via EA servers, while that is a fine idea, I really don't think you can circumvent Microsoft that way.

Total fail with this post, it's not at all related to Bioware.  And who doesn't have Xbox Live?   What the hell's the point of having an Xbox if you don't have Live?

You need a medium through which you can download something in order to get downloadable content, imagine that.

It's not like you get it for free when you download it on the PC either, since you're paying for your internet connection.

Wait, are you saying you don't even have a Silver account? A silver account is all that is needed to get DLC... it's just the demo that Microsoft requires a Gold membership.



Seriously.... Having a Xbox Live account to download DLC on the Xbox is the same as having your EA Account to download DLC on the PC... you just need both if you are on the Xbox.



I mean, I don't mean to be rude, but if you are objecting to having a SILVER account, then you shouldn't be playing this game on a Xbox 360, nor ANY game really.

There are many things to complain about when it comes to xbox live. Poor quality voice chat, weird policies and nonsensical region locking.



But having to get a free silver account to download a demo? I don't understand the problem here.

You do need Live, however there are two tiers to it: Silver is free and gives access to the marketplace where DLC, demos etc. are downloaded from. Some demos are released later to this tier than to the Gold tier, which is a paid service. Gold gets access to online multiplayer as well as other services depending on region (netflix, skyplayer etc), but both have access to downloading DLC, both paid and free as well as other download services such as game trailers, demos and so on (again, with the condition that some are released sooner to Gold members, such as the DA2 demo).

Does anyone understand what the word DEMO MEANS? Its a demo to promote the sale of the game. A demo implies there is NO COST as its a DEMO. Wether Bioware or Microsoft did this its BAD. Its really stupid and BAD! Why would you ever charge or require a membership in order to sell a product? This is the main reason why I never joined Xbox live because of horrible stuff like this.. WOW REALLY?

Microsoft does such so as to REWARD their Xbox Live Gold members.

All Xbox Live silver members gain access to demos at a later time than the premier for the Gold members.

To be truthful, the demos are usually out EARLIER than at other sites for Gold Xbox Live users and by the time other places receive demos, the silver members do as well.

The only reason this is a problem now is because it was a mandated release on the demo and the Gold users couldn't receive it early.

Microsoft policy is irrevokable.

I am really amazed how many stupid comments people have made in these posts regarding my original post.. If any of you want to blame whoever for this issue the main issue is this.. ITS biowares fault for allowing this PERIOD. Bioware could have said NO and Microsoft couldnt have done anything about it.. This does NOTHING for a gold membership. The overall person effected by this choice is BIOWARE. They are the ones who make the cash not Microshaft. Save your comment as really they dont matter. The only person who should be replying is Bioware with an offical statement of why...
