OK this is exactly word for word what it says on the card with the item code that came with my game:

TO UNLEASH THE FURY OF SHALE:
1. Enter in your code at dragonage.bioware.com/redeem
2.Start Dragon Age: Origins and log into your EA/BioWare account
3. Go to the Downloadable Content menu to view the download progress
4. Once installation is complete, follow the instructions in the Quest journal

OK now I want to focus on 4.
Because there are no instructions to follow in

Because here is a screen shot of the only thing that is in journal regarding Shale and as you can clearly see it reveals nothing aboout how to get him into your party.

Posted Image

So my question now is this:
Why are you being told to follow non-existant instructions?

once you get the quest, a new location should appear on your map, telling you where to go.

when you start a game you should have a quest under 'premium content'. My game was however bugged, i could go to sulchers pass and from there i couldnt get to honnheath. I just deleted the folder on my pc with the stone prisoner dlc in it and reinstalled and it worked.

What are either of you talking about? Have either of you even bothered to read what the topic was about?
What kind of crap is ONCE YOU GET THE QUEST? and it should be under premium content?

Lets say even if I did, there is nothing at all in any of that quests text at all, that has any relevance to The Stone Prisoner, NONE!

In fact the only thing regarding anything that talks about The Stone Prisoner content that is in your journal, is what is in that screenshot I have posted above, and I don't see anything about any quest or reference where this information is located in your journal do you?

Guild wars hich doesn't explain anything at all even gives you directions on how to access it's DLC.

But this game has nothing explained about how to actually go about getting The Stone Prisoner into your party, and everyone knows that.

Nice reply you have there about making crap up I never even said.

Maybe if you people spent less time trying to make things up, and more time actually reading things, you might be better off.

Case in point, you got all long winded about how no one wants to help me,

One quick question

When did I ever asked for anyone's help?

Does it say anywhere HEY COULD SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO GET SHALE INTO MY PARTY?

No it doesn't and it doesn't imply that either, so stop making things up I never said.

I mearly pointed out how this is a major contradiction, and provided proof by posting up the given instructions on the code card, then showing how there is nothing in your journal that shows what the code card says to do.

You're absolutely right: in your screenshot there's nothing indicating where to look for The Stone Prisoner. But if you take a look under "Current Quests" --> "Premium Content", you'll see a quest named "Sulcher's Pass". I suggest taking it up.

(btw, that's what those other guys were talking about -- they actually did read your OP)

ZeroMystic has a point. Nowhere does the description point you where to go, or even to look for a new icon on the map.

I only found it by accident because I was reading the mouse-over description on the map icons.

But it helps if you actually read the quest part of the journal and not the premium content part ;)

Are you just willfully being dense or what?

Even ricktn1 understands what I am saying.

Let me make this totally understandable for anyone reading this:
Does the code card tell you that Sulcher's Pass has anything to do with this....NO IT DOES NOT!
Does the journal mention that Sulcher's Pass has anything to do with this....NO IT DOES NOT!
Does it say in Sulcher's Pass journal Entry that Sulcher's Pass has anything to do with the Stone Prisoner...NO IT DOES NOT!

So when people decide to smarten up and realize no insrtuctions have been given to this, this makes the DLC impossible to access with only the information you have been between teh code card and yoru journal.

And before people start really getting stupid and try say things like well this an RPG you are supposed to go exploring and discover things, or that I should have just gone down there anyway...and all teh rest of the usual I should explore crap...that is a load of BS, what if I didn't want to go down there, this is an RPG...what if I totally chose to ignore that because I felt like it this is an RPG. it's like me telling you you should have picked open a chest you didn't want to.

I don't care if anyone from BioWare tells me to go to Sulcher's Pass, unless anyone can show me how I am supposed to know enough to go to Sulcher's Pass in order to get Shale, then it is not relevant that I have been told how to get him.

The bottom line is I shouldn't have to come to a forum to get an answer to what should have been made crystal clear in the instructions I have been given.

I did what the card says, and I did read my journal, and that screenshot is a dircet result of common sense about where it would be in yoru journal..

You not only should have been told that there is a quest to get Shale, but you should have been told exactly what the name of this quest was.

But instead you just get told to go read about it in your journal and the only place that you would go to read about it in your journal is, the DLC section.

Ok first off I'm going to make a few basic assumptions. You installed the downloadable content.

You activate the content. So having read the card that tells you the downloadable content gets you shale, and seeing an entry in premium content its not to far a leap of logic that thats the line you have to follow to work the quest line.

I personally had no problems with noticing the premium content tab in the quest log.You get a pop up message as you enter the game world telling you the quest is online.*shakes head* if you wanted to be hand held through the game...the prima guide IS out.

No one is going to bother helping you out if you act like such a **** to people that are spending their time trying to help you. Its not their fault that they couldn't answer the question like you wanted them to, its your fault for not providing enough information to clarify the problem.

Sorry but he is actually right because I myself bought the Deluxe Digital Version or w/e its called and expect like the Dragon Armor to already be in my inventory. So please instead of insulting him and pointing him to where the NPC is to obtain the quest listen to what the man is saying. The information that is given both online and in the box *As I got mine from Direct 2 Drive* it says NO WHERE that you must get a quest to do this. We expect it to already be done when we log in and download the premium content as other premium content was.

So please guys lighten up, laugh a little, and stop being so harsh its the freakin internet and forums. Read what is typed a little better and people wouldn't be so rude.

In addition to Burningwolf's comment, DLC areas are a different color on the world map. So if you're looking for a DLC quest, click the gold square.

The OP does not want to be pointed to where to go, he has been advised on that already and replied with insults. The OP is griping because the quest text doesn't tell you explicitly that you will get Shale via going to Sulchers Pass... the developers had the audacity to put some flavor and back-story into the DLC. Maker forbid!

To the OP - take a chill ok? You don't want help, thats obvious. You just want to gripe and moan.. If you take a step back, take a deep breath, and think about it you maybe can calm down a bit eh? Your player character does not know anything about Shale until the quest giver tells you about it - the quest log is not a psychic tome, it is a record of what you have done and what you have to do.

How difficult is it to put the Sulchers Pass quest (under Premium content no less) together with getting Shale? Is it too much for the devs to expect players to enjoy a little atmosphere with the journal entries?

That all said, yes - there is no mention of there being a quest, and the description for the DLC makes it sound like Shale will be added right away... but really, does the OP need to be so inflamatory towards people trying to help?

So...you want Shale to magically appear in your party upon loading up the game with absolutely no reason?

Are you sure you bought the correct game?

I'm a little confused by all this. I see where the OP is coming from, maybe mentioning on the card after step 4 that you get the quest "Sulchers Pass" so you dont have to assume would help, and I see no reason that the developers couldnt have done it. On the other hand, I also noticed "New Quest: Sulchers Pass" and a bright gold icon appear on my map, so I did put them together and found it out. So, I guess they could have put it on the card *the quest that you have to do, that is* but I dont think it's needed (a biased opinion, admittedly, since I didn't need it). Just my two cents.

Well, you have a point.

But there's also a point to having warning stickers for completely idiotic things that you think no human would ever do. There's a reason they're there though.

You can't expect people to have common sense.

OK it seems the people in here are having a severe time understanding what the term DLC means and are attempting to use false logic to try and justify things so lets cut the crap right now.

FACT 1:

The card that has the promo for the DLC says to follow the instructions in your journal once the content has been installed.

FACT 2:

There is a DLC tab in your journal

FACT 3:

100% and total Common sense says that the card says to read your journal and since the journal has a DLC tab in it, then that is the exact place the promo card says to go read.

If the card says go read the quest log part of your journal, then people would have some basis of this so called common sense argument they like to use.

But the promo card's wording and where the content is, clearly says that the instructions are in the DLC tab of your journal.

Why would you or anyone ever go to the premium content when it was very clear that you are being told to go to the DLC tab. Can either of you explain how you know enough to look in the Premium content part of your journal and not DLC part where it is common sense placed.

Because I don't know about you two or anyone else, but I see DLC, and go read the instructions in my journal, and there is a DLC tab in my journal, then that clearly tells me that the instructions are in the DLC tab of my journal. So how both of you wound somehow knowing that you had to ignore the DLC tab when that isn't even remotely close to where it said to go in your journal.

How exactly is the DLC tab of your journal the same as the Quest tab of your journal?  Just clarify that for me Mr. Hostile.

Apparently you do not know how to read, because I never said this. And why would you ever go to any other place in your journal about the DLC except for the DLC tab that is in your journal.

No one has explained how they got quest tab out of DLC.

The bottom line is that you are not told anywhere on how to get this. And that there is no way anyone is going to say that when you read on the code card to read in yoru journal that they would not go to the DLC tab in the journal.
