Grunt's fun, but I found Okeer a lot more interesting. I ended up wishing that we had recruited the krogan scientist instead of the krogan warrior. What do you think?
Should we have recruited Okeer instead of Grunt?

I feel the same way, sort of. I like Grunt a lot, but Okeer would have been fascinating to get to know. Grunt is fun because he is a stereotypical krogan on overdrive, but Okeer was an intellectual and philosophical man with vision.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Shepard's original recruitment target was Okeer himself, not Grunt, right?

Yes. Shepard was to recruit Okeer.Fiery Phoenix wrote...

Yeah, Okeer was supposed to come along.
I think he would have been a bit superfluous though. He sounded to me like a smarter, slightly more cynical Wrex, and we already have one of Wrex.
And I'ma be honest, I love Grunt. The little rascal is so cute when he's flustered.

The answer is yes. Dude has a way better voice and demeanor.

If we had been able to recruit Okeer, all of the Wrex fanbois would have thrown a tantrum that they got ripped off with a cheap Wrex clone.

...and Grunt is a slightly dumber, even more violent Wrex. He's also younger.
If Okeer is superfluous then so is Grunt.

Eh, I tend to disagree (Shocking, right?). Wrex and Okeer both seemed to have that same world-weary attitude about them (though Wrex has less of that now that he's leader), whereas Grunt is full of that young, starry-eyed 'today's a great day to kill something' exuberance. Plus, I like the idea that Grunt is a blank slate, ready to grow in any direction, possibly as a result of how you, his Battlemaster, direct him. I like the idea of watching Grunt grow from a rosy-cheeked Kroglet into a full-grown Krogan.

Wrex loved a good fight too. True he did share some ideas (or personality traits) that Okeers seems to have. However if nothing else Okeer would have been a nice contrast to Wrex because his vision of the future is diametrically opposed to Wrex's.

Okeer would have been fascinating, especially in his dialogue with Mordin...

Personally, I would'a been afraid of Okeer. That dude was loyal to no one but himself, and I'm sure if I started doing things he didn't like, he'd take a stab at me. Plus, I have the distinct feeling I wouldn't be able to trust him as the mission went on. He was dedicated to his own ends, and we needed people dedicated to our ends on this particular mission.
Eh, like I said, I like grunt. There's something pure and honest about him that wasn't in Okeer.

Even though I am much happier to have Grunt, I wish Okeer didn't have to die.
Once Shepard's story is complete, we have a whole new ME series to get involved with. I think Okeer's vision would have made for a great story, plus with how long a Krogan can live, it would have been adaptable in the future. I guess this all depends on how ME3 ends though

Hell no we need new some blood. We could have skipped the puberty though.

What was the point of recruiting Okeer? Why'd the Illusive Man think he'd benefit your team? Sounded like he was another Mordin. Then again, he had dealings with the Collectors, maybe T.I.M. thought he could provide strategic insight. Anyway, certainly would've been a lot different than Grunt.

There was no point- it was almost scripted. He might have also known Okeer had the "perfect" Krogan with him. He is the goddamn Illusive Man afterall.

Two words:
Krogan Scientist.
You know how rare those are? TIM probably wanted Okeer because he was one of the few Krogans able to overcome his desire to kill anything with lungs long enough to do actual sciencey things. A Krogan with that amount of dedication could be a valuable asset indeed if you could get him on your side.
Also: Sweet! I got quoted in a siggy!

But...but...we have like the smartest guy ever already. Even the smartest Krogan isn't a match for a Salarian in terms of intelligence. It's a great alternative theory though.

Grunt is way better. He's smart, strong and not to mention the most powerful Krogan ever. I have not seen him "die" as in ever!

No, I'd rather have Steven Blum with me!
Okeer was an ass anyways.

Yeah, I think Okeer would have been better. Grunt is fun, but just a berseker. Moreover, Okeer seems to have been dealing with the Collectors, so his presence would have been, albeit in a smaller manner, connected to the "plot", at least more than Grunt.
Besides, another mad scientist is always fun!

Okeer would be more intersting than Grunt. Too bad BW killed him off for some silly reason.

I think they ran out of one-liner reasons to follow Shepard or there were just too much of them, so a character with other reasons (*cough* amnesia) was necessary. But amnesia has been overdone, so a clone with no past is even "better".
